Anyone got any recommendations on a set of front rotors for an ABS? Mine are slightly warped to the point they squeal like pigs when I come to a stop but more so I can feel braking efficiency pulsing a little. This was probably caused by my pads dragging a bit but this is now sorted since I serviced my calipers. I will probably get some new calipers but I think it is probably wiser to replace the rotors first. On the short list (add any suggestions) Brembo T-drives ($$$) Brembo Serie ORO Armstrong Wavies Galfers EBC contours EBC X OEM (managed to warp these on the last 3 hondas I’ve owned) Not on the list Chinese sourced rotors (I’m sure some are good but not taking a gamble on something so critical!!) Ultimately I want the ones resist warping the most and provide decent stopping power. Some questions, is the premium price tag of the Brembos worth it, even more so the T-Drives? Are there any advantages to wavies? I think I am swaying towards the Armstrongs due to the price or should I pay a little extra and get the Serie OROs Any advice greatly appreciated!!
I had Galfers on my previous blade and to be honest the stopping power was great but... I had major issues with the holding washers. So much so in the end I had to take them off due to safety and MOT failures. They just fort real slack...see video. Then I changed them for Armstrong wavies as they were much cheaper and to be honest they were not bad at all (especially considering The price).
Rotors? Where dya think yar Boy, the Good Ole US of A? Brembo if U can afford or justify, Galfer if not.
Over the years I have formed the opinion that Brembo T drives are the ones to have, I guess these are the most expensive... but quality tends to cost I have not used them but know people who have and they think there awesome !
If you want good quality and real add of stopping power, go with Braketech Iron rotors. Iron rotors and ferodo pads are amazing.......
I have the T Drives, it was all Arthur's fault, he showed me a pic of them and then told me they make a nice whooshing sound. Mine have been on about 9 months now and ridden in wet as well, they look as good as the day they were fitted. Are they worth the extra money ? probably not but then many things we put on our bikes are not either. All I can say is that with my Brembo M/c, M4's and T Drives I have the best brakes on a bike I have ever owned.
Jesus! They aint Cheap R they! Honda CBR1000RR 08 ABS - Brembo T-Drive Racing Brake Discs - Set | eBay
Along with Brembo Calipers, Discs, a decent front tyre and the wheel, it makes front wheel Bike theft in isolation well worth a Thiefs time!
Thanks everyone for the advice. Bit of a conundrum. I think the T-drives, Braketech are a little $$$$$$ for my wallet. Thanks Zippy you have eliminated Galfers. Dont want OEM (killed 3 set already) Nor as Sinewave would them Ching Chong disc Not sure about EBC stuff so it a toss between the cheaper Armstrong discs or Brembo Serie OROs just need to find a deal!
Not heard of them previously but man they are pricey, they make the T-drives look the budget option! Braketech Brake Discs for Honda Motorcycles
It's around the same price but with the right pads, they re muchhhhhh better than T drive ! Every rider who test the Ductile iron, don't come back to stainless rotor !! And i agree since i ve them on my blade !
That is a very valid point, why nick the bike when you could whip off calipers, master cylinder, exhaust etc in seconds
info here on the braketechs Braketech AXIS Iron Motorcycle Brake Discs There is some real tech behind them!!
That's why I never park my bike out of sight, approx £2.5 K and I have not got the most expensive wheel or calipers. Some people's front wheels must be worth a small fortune.
