I have a small claim to fame today. I have been on Lakeland Radio, a short ditty about me and was asked to pick a tune from the 60's, 70's, or 80's. I picked Mr Blue Sky by ELO. I explained how it reminded me of going to France, camping on the motorbikes and sticking your head out of the tent flap in the morning and singing the first part of the song, to which I voiced the drum beats and the first line of the song. Also how a local band called the Mustard Cutters do a very good version of it. At the end of the interview I was asked to sing the intro again, which he used for the intro to the song. I was picked because they randomly phoned a post office. What would you pick and why?
Great Thread For me you just can't beat the 80's music, i could choose so many different songs Lets go with Purple Rain by Prince, the sound was amazing and the guitar solo epic
Great Friday night thread Kevin and its a tough one due to me having hundreds of favourite records, if you make a quick snap decision on the first one that comes into your head then for me its " Do anything you wanna do " by The Rods who changed their name from Eddie and the Hot Rods for the release of this single .I can't remember when but around 1977 maybe and I remember working on a Lennons Supermarket refurb in Stourbridge West Midlands .Strange how a record brings back events .
Gimme Shelter (Rolling Stones ) You tube clip from the Helicopter gunship Vietnam is the best ever .Good shout YT.
AC/DC whole lotta a rossie, even though i wasn't even a wink in my dad eye at that point. its something most of can relate to a some point!!!
Brilliant track, it always lifts my mood when I hear it. I'm a bit of a muso, play guitar and love many different genres of music so it's hard to choose. If I was pinned down, I would choose Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight Tonight. It's the song that means the most to me and the missus, it's our song. If I chose another it would be 'As' by Stevie Wonder. I made up some cd's for the delivery suite when the missus was in labour with our son. This was the song that was playing when he made his appearance.
Barracuda by Heart,it's the perfect rock song not too long and great lyrics,Ann Wilson(in her hey day in the 70's) was the sexiest female singer alive with a great voice, but not no more, she must weigh twice as much as me now.
Never had the pleasure of seeing them live, but have a few of their songs on an mp3 I use when I'm in the gym,her singing always gets me through the pain barrier when I'm on the treadmill with 3 miles still to run.
