I'm off to val d isere in 2 weeks ski-ing never really been into it or felt like a holiday should involve anything but shorts and a pool and sunglasses but my mates have talked me round .

Never ever put ski boots on god they aren't comfy !!!! .

So skiing lessons at the snowdome are £70 for a 2 hour lesson or £35 for a 3 hour free for all so last Sunday went for the free for all . It was so foreign to me .

Woman at desk asked me what skis I prefer I pointed and said those she said you know it's for recreational skiers tonight . Yeah been loads of times years ago just a bit rusty

The video was taken 15-25 mins in putting skis on for first time and in the 3 hours I was going from the top and crashing a lot less ha ha . First time down there is a snowboard half pipe and ramp I done both on my arse ha ha .

Had a really good laugh and looking forward to skiing now .

Anyone else been skiing before ?

Well done mate, that's quite impressive tbh....

Went every year for about ten years through snr school and after, loved it. Then bikes took over, Lisa not fussed and can only have one lads week away a year so tours it is.

Miss it big time. The whole thing is brilliant, you'll love it.... Great having a beer by the fire in the eve and feeling like you e done something.

The scenery and fresh air is awesome... Would have a ski holiday over a beach one everytime. :(

Make sure you get ski school though mate, 3 days and you'll be flying, and it's so much more fun when you get more confident on the skis

Rule 1 - on the lift at 8am whatever the hangover
    Rule 2 - where a lid lol

Yeah I wish.... Need to get her interested, maybe next year!

Like boarding Kev, but only when the snow is top drawer. Over wise skiing is so much easier.... Depends who ya with also.

Can't go wrong either way tho ;)

Off piste is best! Bit sad but love a bit of cross country skiing too, did a fair bit with the army in Norway and Alaska

Skiied for about 10yrs and then onto boarding, been doing it since I was 16, nearly every year. I usually do a long weekend boarding and apres skiing with a mate, but we're off to spain with FE next month, so we ain't going this year. have just booked for crimbo with my mates family and ours.
I reckon a snow holiday is the best holiday every, boarding all day and drinking all evening, what's not too love about that :D :D.. a bit more expensive than your usual summer holiday though :-(

look at you all posh with ya lid and stickers :D :D

Cross Country / Piste Du Fond is very different but exhausting / good workout -

Not been for a few years since my foot injuries as not sure they are up to it, that said the ski boot keeps it all in place lol

The Tignes / Val area is vast - you will love it and as Jimbo says queuing up for the lif to open is essential - every day

Apres ski is good laugh too - just take a few €50 notes to keep you going!

take a GoPro or similar to capture a few moments on piste of epic fails - and shots of Jeager mid afternoon (maybe even with redbull) compulsory - buy a mini bottle at lunch and have them on a chair lift!

I picked it up easy tbh, much easier than skiing, was off piste day two, and love it when it's powder. Been skiing loads and still find off piste hard but on the board no sweat.

But if thw snow is hard and really groomed on piste then is prefer to ski. Often change mid week depending on what I feel like, but. Feel more natural on skis as that's what I done for years first...

Should try other though mate, both great fun...

Val D isere /Tgnes is a great skiing area. Been there multiple times. It's not for the novice perse, but the downhill on the other side of the mountain in val disere is magical (trail ends with a cosy bar too :) )

Have fun & keep it safe!

Went skiing for years up until I got married, the mrs prefers sandy hot beaches. She's offered me the option of going skiing or biking with mates, go for bikes every time, but I miss it.

Boarding for me too! The ski's lasted all of 10 mins in my possesion before going back to hire place to swap for board gear, I just felt all wrong with the ski stuff!

I'm sure you will have a great time tho.

Wedgie, going from your past history you better get extra insurance cover mate! :D

we really don't wanna see a new thread appear with pics of you lying in a hospital bed with casts on all your limbs ok, injuries eat into racing/track time! :D
