I've had my yoshimura r77 on my blade for a week.
The link pipe didn't have an O2 sensor so I used a 330ohm resistor (O2 eliminator equivalent)

I've been doing short journeys in town and I'm getting 25mpg?

Is this understandable? Or am I spitting my dummy out by putting it on eBay thinking my fuel consumption has taken a beating because of the pipe and O2 situation?

I've only had the bike 2 months and have only started to monitor the fuel consumption . I don't know what mpg you expect round town?

Seems a shame because this pipe looks so good on my black blade!

    Thanks

That's about 20mpg out if just commuting.
You really have to get a Powercommander and have it dyno'd if you are suffering that much fuel consumption.

To put that into context, if I'm out on a 'gentle run' I still manage around 38-40 mpg. When cruising on these bikes you can average near 45.
I have a Akrapovic slip on, O2 eliminator and powercommanderV so you should be near enough what I get.

Just reading back on your post.

Even if you just buy a powercommander and download a map you should see a gain.
The reason you will be running really rich is that the bikes ECU is not getting the readings it needs from the O2 sensor.

How long would it take to burn £200 of fuel?

Going at that rate of consumption, if u bit the bullet now you'd make it back within 2 months.

That's true but I was going to sell the exhaust and keep the standard one :S

You could try and get a sports cat Akropivic if you are looking for a replacement once you sell the yoshi.

That's if you like the look of an aftermarket exhaust without having to fit a pc.
Honda sold bike with this exhaust as part of they're sports pack.

I've seen a few for sale on here.
Infact I'm sure there is 1 for sale at the mo.

I can get a pc 3 pretty cheap, would that do the trick? Would a dyno run be an essential?
I was even thinking of getting a O2 sensor hole welded into the link pipe instead.

But then it's taken honda 20 years to get the blade where it is today, why do we put these aftermarket parts on?

I've got the racefit growler black edition. tbh, haven't noticed any difference in fuel economy from standard.

Never seen below 40mpg, perhaps even 42. Obviously not trying hard enough, must ride quicker!

    A pc3 would be fine.
With a pc and a O2 eliminator the bike will run fine with a downloaded map. No need to drill a hole as the pc controls the fueling.

Did you fit an O2 eliminator Andy, or was there a hole for the O2 sensor in your midpipe?

There was hole in each mid pipe, so i used the original lambda sensors and apart from a lumpier tickover they have been fine.

Mine had a akrapovic on it when I first brought it preferred the look of a r77 so now got the yoshi on it I've never noticed any difference fuel consumption

Like everyone said 25mpg is way too low.
Only seen it drop below 40 on track days and naughty riding:D.

Look at the generic r77 map for a PCV, its only going to richen it up some more! I've run previous bikes with after market zorsts with just an eliminator and noticed a small drop in mpg but nothing major. Maybe perform an ECU reset and see if that improves anything

Seing as op doesn't have a pc and has fitted a resistor I'd say the problem is that the ecu is not getting the signal it needs without the powercommander to bypass the ecu.

I think my only option is to have a 12mm boss welded into the link pipe so i can use my o2 sensor

I know a good stainless steel welder that could do the job, i have found a boss to fit (link below)
Lambda Boss M12 Exhaust Oxygen Sensor Nut | eBay

    what do you think???
