Hi - looking for some help with a hose issue please. I've got a UK 07 1000RR and was cleaning the left side of the bike down after a salty ride today and the overflow pipe which attaches down by the kickstand came away from the bike at the top. It seemed to come away very easily and the only place i can find to attached it is a hose that comes from under the tank. I've checked the Haynes and it looks right but it seems too much of a stretch to connect there. I'm aware there may also be two in that area - a breather and an overflow so im a little concerned Ive got it in the wrong one. It seems there is not enough pipe at the bottom now to no longer fit into the loop by the kick stand correctly. Unless I'm rubbish at routing. Can you tell me if this is right please. http://imageshack.com/a/img845/3118/dg0j.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img27/1655/owl6.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img809/7619/cntc.jpg Thank you! banj
Hi and welcome to the forum! You could introduce yourself in the new members section. Anyway onto the pipe, there is normally two pipes that plumb into the tank besides the main fuel line, one is the air vent for the tank itself the other is the filler neck overflow which allows any spilt fuel or water to drain away from the filler cap area. The only other vent to atmosphere type pipe that comes to mind is from the coolant expansion bottle, they normally have a pipe coming off the cap of the bottle but normally on the rhs/os of the bike. Hope that helps.
I am struggling to remember my old RR6, but something is nagging away in my mind that one of those hoses connects to a T piece half way down...could be wrong matey, as the old grey matter is not what it was.
Thanks for the responses guys. Bit of a late night in the end Ok so its definitely the fuel overflow from the filler cap - I syphoned some fuel out and poured it down the hole - sure enough it came out of the short hose (that should be connected to the long hose) from under the tank. I'm still not convinced the short pipe under the tank is routed properly tho. If I attached the long overflow pipe and route it down past the water pump and down into the o-ring is barely touches the ring. If I inspect the short hose under the tank (neck is killing me!) then it is routed over a much wider hose and is essentially squashed flat by pulling the combined hoses down far enough to get it into the ring by the stand. Surely if this is an overflow the pipe should be freely routed from the tank down to the floor. What do you think should I just leave it (I dont overfil that much!) or should i takw the tank cover off and try and have a look. Its bugging me that the hose keeps coming out of the o-ring by the stand. Thanks for your help. Kind regards Banj
I need to look at this pipe too as the last time my bike was worked on the garage didn't put things back how they were when it went in
Aye, only had mine a few weeks so I'm expecting a few things out of place. Need to take the tank cover off to fix the seal around the filler as theyve jammed that in. So could take a look at the hoses maybe the same time. So compact this blade cant get in anywhere to take a look!
