Does anybody use, with success any form of solar or wind power for their powerless garage?. I have looked into this before but there is just too much info and choice.
Ideally I would like to operate 3 internal LED lamps a optimiser battery charger of some description and if possible a LED PIR floodlight.
The garage next door to me uses a battery with an inverter, which is fine, but he has to disconnect the main battery and charge it every few weeks which is not great. A solar charger would overcome this.

Yes I've got a small solar panel which charges 2X 95 amp batteries and 1000 watt inverter.
Repsol Fireblade hiding behind the frosted glass.

Thanks. What do you use the inverter for?

Think it takes the 12 or 24volt battery output and turns it into 240ac to drive the lamps etc.

I was hoping it as for the charger. I am guessing it copes quite well. Have you had any problems with the kit.
I note the inverter is an extra on the website. Did you get it from the same site?

    Always happy help Rob.
Inverter is from eBay and is sinewave type better than cheaper ones.
However heater sucks power from batteries :-(

A Pure Sinewave Inverter is always worth the extra dollars, I have a 2kW one in my Van.

Being a Spark by Trade sinewaves are an integral part of the job and hence my username! :D

I am already sussing out that LED lights might be a better option

Sinewave, that wouldn't be a cheap inverter

The trouble with fitting big 230V inverters on 12v vehicle systems is U need big fek off supply tails from the battery.

If U look closely in my pic above you'll see the Brown & Blue Tri-Rated tails eminating from Bulkhead floor up to the Inverter.

Anyone want to hazzard a guess as to what size they are and why?
