Basically I'm in a band and we have a big gig coming up on the 28th june, found out today that this coincides with my donnington race weekend!! Obviously I need/want to do the racing but dunno how to let my band down, they are desperate to do the gig!!

I have had a few moments like this last year, but luckily I have been able to get back to do the gig and then head back to the circuit for racing that night. Not easy, but it can be done.

Are you an important person in the band? Or someone easily replaced?

Ye can't get your knee down with a band!

Seriously though, i wouldn't let my mates down to be fair, but it's upto you. Plus being a lead guitarist, you should get some decent fanny. Bonus.

Just imagine where guns and roses would be now if slash had gone racing at donnington instead of playing a big gig

With Jimbo on this one. Can only be 100 miles and mostly motorway/duel carriageway. Have it done in just over the hour on blade! !!

Funny U should use that as an example Fez!

I was at one of the annual Monsters of Rock festivals at Donnington when Ozzy's lot, Black Sabbath, were headlining back in the day and this unheard of Band came on stage mid afternoon called Guns n Roses!

How we all took the Piss at the time about their name, but to be fair they were quite good from the off.

Was the same year a Concorde Pilot took off from East Midlands Airport and decided to drown out the Heavy Metal with a Full Throttle launch over Donnington Park!

Now that was fucking load I can tell ya!

Know its a tough call but if doing both like a few have suggested isn't an option and you have you choose, I'd go with not letting the band/your mates down.

One of many race meets mate, may not get another opportunity with the band if you blow it out.

How many in the band young Tyke?

If its more than 1, then they should be good enough to cover you.

Stay calm, don't panic and carry on racing, if not and it all goes tits up, then there are always new bands coming on the block looking for a strummer.
