Anyone read the March 2014 issue hailing the Aprilia RSV4 as the best Sports Bike yet again for the 3rd year in a row?
But no one would speak to me then and I'd be banished in to the Tinternet Wilderness! No Bikes worth losing U lot for!
Not too keen on the Aprilia aftersales support (lack of). Yeah they are amazing bikes but when they are selecting SBOTY they don't take that into account. Not to mention how expensive the parts are !
Obviously important to some but I could honestly say I wouldn't even consider after sales support when deciding on a bike (daft no doubt) I'd just get it if I wanted and worry bout it later.... Let's face it, if your lucky enough to buy new, you'd prob sell within 3 years and how many parts would you actually need in that time?? Would love an aprillia but a hell a lot of cash and don't think it does everything as a whole package as well as some, inc the blade
Yea I see where your coming from, however after spending 17k you'd want a reliable garage to fix if you'd experience any faults with it.
I know, makes sense what you say. But I'd hope for the best and like to think my 17k bike wouldn't melt in the first shower... However false that hope might be! Ha Guess that's why I haven't got a 17k bike, because I couldn't deal with the grief and £££ of running it and repairing it... As the funny thing is most expensive exotic bikes (apart from hp4 which I wouldn't be seen dead on), tend to be ones that have a reputation for breaking down. Ironic when you think of it.....
No idea what prices parts on an Aprilla, but the way Honda UK have ramped prices up is bad enough. My broken mirror arm is £97, thats just the metal part that bolts to the nose cone frame. Everything else is an extra, ie covers, lens, electrics, screws, nuts etc. Thats why I have bought one from a Honda dealer local to my office in the US, same part £41. Admittedly its not convenient unless you are there, but one of my guys picked it up and is bringing over next week. But yet again Honda UK are happy to bend over and royally roger their customers on parts prices. All I am hoping is that its not a part for a left hand drive bike................
Sorry lads I'd have to have something reliable.Don't mind fixing things but if its Italian forget it.Bad enough working on Italian cars during the day.The Italians are very good at producing beautiful cars and bikes.If they were as reliable as my Italian Beretta DT10 and the Palini paint mixing scheme at work I'd have one tomorrow.Just recently I asked about a blower motor for a late Corsa to be told yes we have 3 instock. Why have 3? Cos it is made by Fiat its the underpinings of a Fiat Punto and its a common fault with them!
Yup very common problem, make sure you change the resistor also when fitting a new blower motor or they tend to burn out again. Yes i have the pleasure working for a Vauxhall main dealer
When I used to buy a new bike and change it frequently I never used to worry about repair costs as it was always in warranty and any reliability issues weren't a huge thing as I never commuted. If I saw a bike I liked I bought it, regardless of repair costs or how far I had to ride for services. I think it is different if you are buying a bike out of warranty as repair costs become a bit more likely and if you commute then reliability becomes a very important issue from a practical perspective. I would have a new Aprillia RSV tomorrow if I was in the market for a bike I would be changing within the warranty period. Moto Forza Italia at Silverstone are excellent guys to deal with, had a Brutale and a Ducati from them and they supply, service and repair Aprillias.
If I was buying a bike for 17k I'd want to keep it well past the warranty period lol. You just can't go wrong with the jap bikes for reliability. For me spending that amount of dosh on a bike I would take all that into account. Unless I was rich then I would give a toss lol.
I took a long time considering which bike to get before buying my current RR6 as I wanted a bike to keep, possibly until I give up riding. Had to focus on some common sense rather than my love of Italian bikes......then I blew the common sense with my upgrades. If I was rich I would have loads of bikes but then if I was rich I wouldn't be living surrounded by a forest in Suffolk.
