Just a few pics to show old lid meeting new lid

The HJC Spies rep is the new lid by the way. I am looking at the HJC because it is so much lighter than the Arai.

I do like the spies rep they did in the Matt version, shame they don't fit me very well always seemed to have a gap at the back where the skull ends and neck starts

I briefly had exactly the same lid. Really light and quiet compared to my Arai but after it feeling OK in the shop it soon gave me the forehead hotspot and was wobbling all over the joint.

Arai is three years old. HJC is according to the lid, 250g lighter than the Arai, but feels much lighter.

I've never had to replace a side pod but changing the visor on an Arai is a right pain in the butt, but practice makes better.

I've not decided if I'm keeping the HJC yet, it is on mail order so I can return it if I want yet. There is something about Arai, that makes you think quality, maybe because it heavier or maybe that deep lacquer finish, or maybe it is just the badge. The jury is out. I'll wear the HJC about the house tonight, see what I think. That's the trouble with trying them on in a shop. The decision is based on a few minutes. I bought an AGV Ti-Tech once and really cocked up on the sizing. It felt great in the shop, but I suffered at 70mph. At least Arai have a try before you buy scheme running now, where you can at least go out for a ride with one on.

Tried it on last night and wore it for about an hour, but sorry I'm afraid it will have to go back. The side pressure on the temples was just too great. I may try the next size up if they have any left.

Best to go to a shop and try them on, then buy online ;)
