Yeah not bad then. So have you got the torque wrenches out yet? Lol I hate that oh shit moment when you think, did I tighten that bolt?
That was the trouble matey, I shouldn't have taken the Bike today I just had too little time to get her ready with one thing and another. I was in the Man Cave throwing it back together and was telling myself 'you're rushing, just leave it and go and watch instead' But no, like a Crack Head, I had to have a Fix come what may!
Well what I thought was going to be a crap day turned out to be a fantastic day anyone that thought of doing it really did miss out on a fantastic trackday. It was raining heavy all night then in the morning so went out for the 3 sighting laps that MSV do (I am sure they go out of there way to everything differently to NO Limits ) Bike felt good and was really enjoying riding in the wet and was doing pretty good lap times considering the cold track temp but saying that none us were feeling the cold as I think we were all just buzzing to be back on track . Firebloke even had a big smile which I haven't seen at a trackday for a while due to various bike problems but he was loving the wets . So it had stopped raining and we had blue sky's so me and Steve swopped wheels Steve on to his inters and me on to my racetecs as soon as we had finished it started to hale stone /rain thought fecking hell I am not swopping back so we missed the next session and it had now stopped raining and we had lovely blue sky's so out we went . There were still sections that were still wet and I was taking it pretty slow on these sections as I started to feel the back end going but the track was drying out very quickly .Steve road very well and was like the Cheshire Cat which was brilliant to see as I was starting to think he was turning in to Victor Meldrew on trackdays, and I had to up my game as he had passed me and I thought I won't hear the last of this . The last 2 sessions the track was nearly perfect especially for this time of year and I was about 7-8 seconds of my best time there so with the cold track temps I was happy with that . Andy turned up on Barney's old blade and casually mentioned he was going on track the picture on Barney's face was priceless ,will post a pic in a bit . Great to see Andy Marion .cbr1,Barney.sinewave ,dad(firebloke)us northern lot know how to get it together. See you all on the 19th Ps Scooby you missed a great day and cheers for the recommendation on the Aim solo laptimer what a great piece of kit . Here's Victor after he just snapped a front wheel disc bolt oh I didn't mention that earlier did I. Here's are main sponsor pissed of with me as I didn't have his company logo on my bike ,I told him Jimbo was in charge of that .Will get that sorted next week as you don't want to piss of are Barney.
Perfect had it set on 70 sens and 60 kill time might reduce the kill time just a bit next time but had it pretty much working like it was seamless shifting which is the best since I have had it . Just don't get me started on the Ohlins oh my god what a difference and that was on a cold day can't wait to really push the bike in warmer conditions.
Good job Jase was au-fait with all things Quickshifter related as I rocked up and had completely forgotten to set it up after fitting it 3 weeks ago as I couldn't start my Bike till this morning due to having no Fuel Tank! Anyway Jase set it up in double quick time and all was well with what little testing was done as I was preoccupied with all the stuff failing off my bike instead! Spose it was a Test Day really! I wasn't as upset though as the young Chick who binned her R6 on the third corner of session 1 in the fast group! Apparently she threw a huge strop got back in the Van and told her Dad (I think) she wasn't going back out, Fuck it! More embarrassing still (we found out later), she is a proper Racer and won her Championship last year what ever it was! The shame of it!
As Jase said, what a fantastic day! Didn't start off very well though with the weather, it was raining buckets when we were due to go out for the sighting laps, so I ducked it. Jase went out though. Swapped my discs over and as Jase said I bloody well snapped one of the bolts leaving the stub in the wheel!!! Oh well! When I asked Andy what he thought about me risking going out on it, his reply was "Yeah mate, no problem, I've been out with only three bolts in!!!" So we did two sessions on a wet track and I gelled with the full wets. As the sun came out the track dried really quickly so on went the intermediates which I've been dying to use! I had a ball!! Came in with a huge smile on my face as I'd really been going well and had overtaken quite a few other riders. Andy informed me that Jason was one of them! I had no idea it was him as I was so focused......if I had known I'd have given him the finger!! It dried up even more and Jase promptly gave me a lesson in speed and left me for dead! Only missed one session due to wrong choice in tyres and was toasty all day! Knee downs on both left and right corners. Fantastic day, better than quite a few I did last year in Summer! Also great to meet up with the usual crew and Craig (CBR1) who showed his face. Thanks to Barney for taking pics which I'm sure we'll get to see later.
Well I turned up just before dinner and paid £25 which was a bargain, did three sessions 1 wettish 2 dry. The blade behaved impeccably, what a piece of kit it is, riding on the track has made me see how much the suspension has improved over the 10 plate I used to have, with my svelt figure the older suspension seemed to be overwhelmed very quickly compared to the newer which for standard suspension is simply stunning. I've no doubt warmer track temps it will behave differently The pilot road 3's where brilliant as usual, what a great tyre. Only thing that wasn't the best was the brakes but that might be down to pads that are 7000 miles and 12 months old !!?? Suffered brake fade going into hissy's after 5 laps or so. The Firebloke was on 'fire' he was flying and smiling !! I believe he might have passed Jase at one point I will leave the racer to make his excuses ! But Steve was on it today. Just a quick note to barney, the bike loves the track mate
