Well they should do as I have just been awarded another 4 to go with the 6 i've already won! All inside 12 months as well so all looking good for a nervous summer or three.
Anyone else noticed how generous the new Police regime are being?

Ouch ! Sorry to hear that . I had 9 points a couple of years ago, makes for nervous riding.

Good luck with not getting any more.

I cheat and use technology to keep away from speed traps etc. Never heard of 4 points being given, was that a bonus on a 3 pointer or a discount on a 6 ;-)

Yeah thanks for that. Much appreciated I'm sure.
To be honest after 25 years riding road and track and this being the first points I've ever picked up on my bike, the question I'm asking is that since the re prioritisation of the Police targets, has anyone any observations on the revised tactics of the Police?

The police don't have any revised tactics. Sometimes certain forces may run an initiative to bring down casualty rates on well known roads but they've always done this. North Yorkshire police are a good example, I don't think their Chief Constable likes bikes lol.

As annoying as it is you can't really blame any police tactics, unless they reduced the speed limits without telling us ;)

What's interesting is that I've talked to a couple of senior serving officers and they have confirmed that Police Scotland have adopted a couple if policies used south of the border since centralisation. These have generated targets regards the number of stops per shift and more pressure for conviction numbers as opposed to allowing discretion to be applied by the cops on the street.
Anecdotally it appears that there are far more people being stopped than even a year ago with in the spot fines for relatively minor things.
Just wondered of anyone else had noticed anything.

Wasn't having a go mate but seriously since I've gone on track its made me realise that unless you're out on the back roads of the west coast of scotland or the like then rode riding is shit! Most coppers are tossers about bikes aswell

So glad you said most as I may have got upset ha ha!!
I must say that in West Yorkshire the police officer who stops you does not make the decision to give you points anymore, it is a traffic offence report that is given at the roadside and this is sent to a central process bureau where a civilian makes the decision of offering a driver awareness course, an offer of a fixed penalty ie points and fine or lastly a summons to attend court.

No problem, just me being thin skinned as still feeling hard done by I reckon.

Lol, west coast if Scotland was where I was done so not even safe there!
Was back in July last year and just had my day in court. The day of the East meets West run incidentally.

Bloomin top man in Scotland is a biker as well apparently but it's not just bikes but cars, vans as well.
A lot of everyday law abiding folks losing respect due to the policing up here.
Def looking at more track this year but that won't save me as most of my points were collected in the car!

I have picked up a few over the years 4 once for aparently dangerous riding which wasn't the case IMO

Got 3 points in my escort cosworth when I was 21 this was kind of my fault as I tried racing an unmarked impreza who decided to show me the blues at about 140 :(
I still think its only cos I beat him

Speeding is a lottery, if you play and lose the ticket is expensive. I have been known to play but I am careful about when and where, and I also try and load the deck in my favour. I use an App to warn me about camera zones. I have used to have a device fitted which changed light colours based on GPS location, think I still have it somewhere but can't fit to the bike as I have nowhere to put the main module.

In my opinion Red light jumping is a different ball-game and to be honest I have no real objection to cameras on traffic lights, sorry but that is my opinion.

Do I think that Police Forces have targets set for traffic offences? Yes.
Do I think Bikers are easy targets? Yes.
Do I think most non-biking Police have an issue with Bikers? Yes.

On the plus side the few Bike Police I have had dealings with around Lincolnshire have been OK. One who I did my bike safe with wasn't all matey-matey but he seemed fair. Maybe it is a local thing but if you don't take the piss they don't hassle you. I know some forces can be bad though, think S Yorks were aiming to piss everyone off last year and no doubt another force will try this year.

I'm no angel and hopefully this isn't seen as preaching. I've had the points for speeding, done a course for speeding to avoid more points, and done a course for undue care and attention (or is careless driving/riding) to save me even more points. That lot probably cost me in excess of £500 without taking insurance into the question, but hopefully this year should see the first Insurance renewal in ages with no points or accidents to declare.

It might be easier matey to garner opinions if you disclose what the 10 points were awarded for.

Wasn't looking for opinions on my own case really, just trying to understand if anyone else has experienced a change in Policing lately.
For me it was 3 points for doing 80 on the motorway and three for using the phone while driving. Started the call when parked but was still holding the phone on speaker. Was stopped at lights for a few minutes at the time but still wrong I suppose. Final 4 was discounted from 6 for excessive speed in a 60. Some guys on here will know the road as it's just north of the green welly heading for Oban. Zero traffic and during the early afternoon in a sunny summers day. No side roads, no villages, just me enjoying the ride. A lack of good judgement on my part yes but considering the number of things the police got wrong, you have to wonder if they got the speed right.
I'm not saying I am innocent just this coupled with a few other incidents ( not mine) last year, makes me question the police's current approach.

I know that road pretty well, and 80 is very easy to get to without even noticing.

Not that I would ever do that officer lol
