Just ordered this from Oz. 2008-13 CBR 1000RR SEQUENTIAL Integrated LED Tail Light 2012 2011 2010 2009 Smk Item number 281201333937 Its from ebay (sorry don't know how to link it) Please watch the youtube clip and let me know what you think It has brake alert (like a Bugati Veyron) which is helpful I think and the indicators look very cool IMO. The thing is I have searched the tinterweb to find out about these lights and our MOT as I don't want to take it off if I don't need to when it come to its first MOT next year so can anyone give me a definite answer as to their legality in the UK. It used to be that the indicators had to be 140mm from the tail light, that has changed so I cant see a reason why they are illegal now. My police mates say there's nothing wrong with them, I have a cheap Chinese integrated one on atm, although they weren't too happy with the show plate haha I will try to get an answer from VOSA on Monday and post their reply if I can. Thanks
You will find this cheaper from motodynamics in the US and the customer service with them is fantastic even out of warranty they still offered for me to send back for repair! The flashing break light is a fail but I believe motodynamics now fit a switch too turn it off for your mot http://www.motodynamic.com/catalogs...e[to]=&make=Honda&v_model=CBR1000RR&year=2012
Ahhhh just seen you ordered it, see if you can cancel as this is half the price and they are even using motodynamics vid in that one you bought
Thanks for the advice martinowen. Yes ordered without asking advice on here first. Its been on order for a few days so its on its way but another lesson learnt. If it hasn't got the ability to turn off the brake alert feature I will try to figure it out when it gets here.
Hey Martin, so do we know, if this tail light is fitted (with flashing brake light deactivated) should it be ok for MOT pass, or is there still a query on indicator spacing?
Technically the indicators should be so far apart but its like the whole baffle in your exhaust thing Most testers are bikers themselves and as long as it is safe they will pass it. I can't remember the last time I fitted my baffle or full size plate My tester said he would of passed the indicators but no way he could the brake light as its is as if it had a loose connection and could get him in trouble
Hi Martin you are of course correct. I have just downloaded the VOSA motorcycle MOT manual, yes I am that sad, and it states that its a fail if the brake light emits anything other than a steady red light. The indicators should be fine though as now no spacing advice is given. Like you say its best to go to a friendly MOT place.
I just change my light before mot it's only once a year and doesn't take long, but I'm sure someone with a bit of electrical knowledge could put a switch in themselves
I have just fitted a motodynamics one ... It did say you could switch to solid light but I can't work out how ... Will put std and indicators on for MOT Need to make a new tail tidy now like I did for the HRC to do away with the indicator mounting points Just been out and looked and R and G for mine has removable indicator mount so now all sorted
Remove seat cowl and there is a small rubber bung on the LHS as you look towards the back of the light. Remove the tiny bung and turn ignition on and with your foot on the rear brake pedal press through the hole with a tiny screwdriver 3 times. That will turn the flash off, do it again to turn back on.
No its the 2013 R and G tail tidy with a little red reflector Bradt wouldn't want to check out my rear after years in the RN it's like an old tattered windsock lol
