I want to get away for a week in Aug with the family

Looking at flying from Bristol. Not far 2-4 hours flight. Nice hotel and looking at at least half board.

Just looking to chill, relax and have a good week away.

Last holiday was Mexico and Before that the US.

Had been looking at Portugal or Cape Verde but seems both don't fly locally. Yes in know cape verde is 6 hour flight

Fly yourself to the French Pyrenees, rent a car, and either chill at one hotel or tour a round a bit. Very relaxing family friendly area.

South of Bordeaux, look for the region around Pau, onto the Spanish/Andoran boarder.

The Logis network of hotels is an excellant guide to finding places to stay

I've been told by someone who has been to Cape Verde that the sea currents are too dangerous to swim in. Perhaps not place to go with kids??

We went here in 2011 ClubHotel Riu Karamboa Nice hotel, Feck all to do outside the complex, unless you walk 5k along the beach, always a breeze which aint bad as it helps to keep you cool, There is a strong current and waves that can knock you on your arse. Mozzies start to come out mid to late August as it's the rainy season, While we were there it pi$$ed down for a good 24/36 hours and the hotel was flooded, myself and a group of others got up and was brushing rain water out of our rooms until the early hours,( got a free bottle of cheep bubbly ) the rain also filled the pools with crap washed in from the surrounding areas, which closed them for 2 days. Food was ok, but got a bit samey after 2 weeks. Would we go back? Yes, but probably a bit earlier in the year. My Daughter calls it the flood holiday.:D

Last August the wife and I went to Torreblanca in Spain (near benelmadena).
Was a nearly new hotel, and breakfast buffet was very nice.
They had some entertainment in the hotel, however we didn't stay there for it, instead roaming around the vilages.
Quick (and clean) train journey from Malaga airport.
We hopped up to Malaga a few times as well, and what a lovely city that is.
Beach was very clean, deep sand, and bloody nice and hot.
Was an underpass to the beach from the hotel, or cross over at the top (was a busy road tho).
Would recommend it. We are going back there with the kids, probably in August as well.
Hotel had a nice pool too.
Quick and cheap flight, and the hotel was very reasonable as well.

St juliens bay fannytastic?? Maybe if you're 14 fella! Went twice last year and yes the girls are very pretty and plentiful but also very young! Was advised it's very popular with the youngsters and doesn't have an older crowd until after 2am. That's past my bedtime these days...
