I'm just sorting out what I need for this years TT but having a problem deciding what tent to buy. I have looked at some of the 2 man hiking tents which are lightweight and come in a small package however I'm unsure whether I'm going to fit all my kit inside ie leathers, lid, boots, rucksack, tank bag and tail pack. Just wondering what some of you guys have, and any recommendations. Been looking at this Vango Blade 200 Trekking Tent | GO Outdoors
Rucksack, tankbag and tailpack!!!!!.........Good God man how long are you going for?!!!!! Went to Spain for two and a half weeks last year with a tankbag and tailpack!
Buy the biggest you can safely carry mate. I have a supposed 2 man Khyam, only just fits a double airbed in, no room for luggagge etc inside, unless you lie on it. " Two man with a good size porch may be best. The single pole on mine is 14" long in the bag, worth thinking about?
Do what I do and buy a cheap tent from tesco or argos and just bin it after, I do take a sheet of polythene just in case though
Redverz Gear - Purchase Series II Tents. Check out the series 2 Packs pretty small Glynn and has room for your luggage, and your bike!
Ive got a Vango banshee and its brilliant ! Small and light when packed away ! Really surprising what you can fit in it when its up and it looks proper Spec Ops ! Ive had torrential rain and wind attack and its stood everything ! You haven't got much room to manoeuvre in there, more kit in and snuggle down but its so small when bagged and quick to get up, i found that made up for it !
Now ya talking! Campin's for Boy Scouts, I want a comfy bed and a hot shower at my age! I spose you've also got more chance of dropping your Bike if you camp as you're constantly riding/pushing your bike on to grass which is also wet with dew in the mornings?
When I toured on the bike I took a cheap £20 tent I fabsealed so was waterproof. and I binned it at the end o my hols I also have a Terra nova laser tent which is idea for using on the bike as it's lightweight and packs small. Only downside is the big cost. So if you want a disposable tent go cheap if you want a good qulity small tent you may need to pay more if your going to use it and keep it
Would have loved a b&b or house share at the TT but didn't have the cash to book at the time so opted for camping. Interested in a house share next year though.
I have a wee two man tent. And as long as it was just me then it would be fine for me and all my gear. Same as you, I took panniers, tail pack, and large back pack. This is the same as mine except in red. Can take a pic of what it comes in (wee zip bag) next to the bike later if you want ? Hi Gear Proton 2 Tent | GO Outdoors
I have the Banshee 300 and its ace - really pleased I have that bit of extra space as bike kit takes up loads of room. Paid just over £100 and prob. used it for 15+ nights and pleased with it.
