Might be a bit of a silly question but you say you only just started monitoring the mpg totals but did you check what the bike does with stock exhaust? How many miles is on the bike? When was the air filter last checked/replaced/cleaned? a blocked air filter will also increase fuel usage!
It had a service in May 2013, not sure if it had plugs or an air filter. it has covered 10k miles, I've put the standard system back on and I'm now getting 38mpg (I do lots of short journeys)
Is anyone else using an aftermarket exhaust, with an o2 eliminator but without any type of power commander ? Surely if I have an O2 eliminator I'll get the perfect air/fuel ratio all the time? I mean the bike ran so sweet, no smoke and the idle was perfect. I do have a question tho, I would like to do a track day with mine, would the yoshi pass the 105db test?
Tiz 102db at a lot of Tracks. Just have to suck & see, then mod the baffle if it fails by a db or so, some Tracks like Oulton have a guy there who can help with these things
So ive had my standard exhaust back on for a few weeks now and im now getting 42mpg. Lesson learnt; if you buying an aftermarket exhaust make sure it has an o2 sensor hole! or have enough cash for a PC & dyno! On the plus side while my standard exhaust was off i repainted it with stove paint from b&q, worked a treat & it looks new again!
Always worth doing a diagnostic reset if you change the exhaust.. Honda dealers will do it for you between 25 and 45 quid. You can do it yourself tho for free..disconnect the battery and and join the earth and live wires from the bike. Leave them connected per night. In the morning reconnect the battery and start it up and leave to idle for 15 mins. It will remap the ecu. Very important not to touch the throttle at all on start up or whilst its idling. After 15 mins simply turn it off. Y Fuel economy will improve again I promise you
IS this for the RR5 too! is it ok to do this with a power commander on!In saying that ive got a dynomap on mine but it needs to be redone as its still lumpy at 1500rpm to 2500rpm
I'd if thought it should work on models. The info was passed onto me by a honda technician i know. It won't allow it to reset with a power commader tho as that's where the map is stored and fed to the bike . Could be wrong but i think that will be the case. I'm no mechanic tho lol
I have the R77 with 02 sensor eliminator and a PC5 and a downloaded dynojet map and the fuel usage is only about 10% greater than stock which is easily explained by the richening in the map. I reckon the OPs should be leaner if anything, have you tried running it with the baffle? Maybe the 330 ohm resistor is not making proper contact.
I have since purchased an r77 with an O2 boss fitted, now I'm using the 02 sensor I'm getting good mpg but it now hunts when warm. I also have baffle out. Think I'm gonna need a PC to resolve all this.
I've just fitted a R-77 and power commander 5 to my RR10 fireblade and with a off the shelf map it still hunts quite a bit on idle with the baffle out , I think the only way around this is a custom map. Beware if you're buying a PCV off ebay though as I just had a bad experience with one and ended up biting the bullet and getting the pcv and 02 eliminator from demon tweeks. Cheers
Don't want to start a new thread on the subject so i will ask here, im having problems finding my average fuel consumption. The only thing i can see on the dash that says average is middle left and it says, av 8.6 m/l. Surly this doesn't mean my average is 8.6 miles per litre???? Any help would be grateful....
The bike will still hunt a bit on idle with R77, even with custom map and pcv, there's no back pressure and the CAT is gone too.
You need to go through the memory settings to switch from litres to gallons, it's does show how to do it in the handbook if you haven't got on I have a pdf version I can send link for
Thanks sps, im just having a read through it now but i am, one thick bastard when it comes to things like this.. But i did a conversion on paper and if im doing 8.6 miles per litre then thats about 15 mpg i think...
Mine is a 09 with Full yoshi and PCV and doesn't hunt at all on idle. I think tho changing the headers helped a lot with this as even with DJ base map for full yoshi it had stopped hunting on idle
Ive just read through this hand book, which is the 2012 hand book and it doesn't say how to change to gallons??? It just say you can change between km/l or mile/l...
