Hey guys, so I've just put a deposit on a RR7 Fireblade, picking it up next week and very excited. Before this I had been riding a Ducati 749 - but I'm told moving to a litre bike is never to be taken lightly no matter what you were no. Wondering what your experiences were like when you first bought a Blade or another Litre bike? It's physically bigger, heavier and wider than my little 749 and I'm told you have to adapt your riding style for cornering, braking etc. I'm sure I'll be fine and I'll take it easy etc - but any tips from anyone who's been in a similar situation?
Hi Congrats on the purchase I went from a 650 to a blade, i was surprised how smooth the power deliver was on the blade. It rides like a very sensible bike, but if you open her up you go into warp speed! Prior to the 650 i had a f3 hornet 900, (slightly de tuned blade engine) that throttle was like a rocking horse! You will need to push it far before you get into real trouble
A lot of years ago I went from a CBR 600 to a R1 the power difference was insane. The R1 was the last model fitted with Carbs and the power delivery wasn't smooth like a modern injection bike, it was aggressive, snappy and a big heavy lump. After keeping the bike a few years I made the mistake of buying a brand new 2007 GSXR 750 I was looking for a new bike and all the bike mags at the time were rating the GSXR as the bike to have. (Keeps up with the 1000's handles like a 600) don't get me wrong it's a great bike when your out on your own but once you have a pillion on it just turned into a 600 and after being used to heaps of power of the R1 I began to regret it. So 3 years later a mate bought a RR7 and I had a go, it didn't feel big a heavy like the old R1, but nimble like my 750 but it was the feeling of torque again that I craved. So long story short I bought myself another 1000cc bike and would now never have anything less, I'm sure you will be the same once your riding it you won't want to go back to anything less
Your gonna love it mate ! I have a RR6 and they are so light and perfectly balanced and it will look after you, just have faith in it... be as one ! I have had some insane bikes in my time but the 1000rr's are so forgiving and will make you feel like a hero in no time at all ! Have fun my friend and stick us some pics up ! We love pics on here
Well i went from a Honda CBF600N.......To a 954RR2, and although not a true 1,000cc, it was lighter than my CBF and was like strapping myself to a fighter jet. It was mind blowing at first but i got used to it, as i understand it the RR7 will just be smoother than my blade but that is not bad thing, good luck.

Beautiful bike that fella. I love that HRC paint job on those models. Just looks right. You'll have nothing but a grin on face with a CBR1000RR, fantastic bike, and perfect for your first 1000cc. Enjoy it pal!
I swapped from cbr600f to a kawasaki ZX-10R when I was just 20. The kawasaki was a horrid compared to the blade but I still managed ok with it so im sure you will be fine. A 749 wont be the smoothest thing to ride anyway so it might just suprise you how easy it is to ride
I swapped a 600F for my RR6 and it is defo easier to ride, not gone mad on it yet but power delivery is so smooth in normal riding and doesn't feel any less nimble than the 600, you'll love it I'm sure. Very nice looking machine you have there
I had 3 600rr`s and then took the plunge and bought my Blade,TBH i didnt notice much difference in the size or weight.Only when i opened him up did i notice the 1 ltr power,My baby can boogie.. Lovely bike you have there enjoy it.. Has Bororich got the same bike.?
I had a 748 then bought a 916 before realising that older Ducatis weren't for me. I felt the same as you, wondering if the blade would be too much. As with anything, as long as you respect it and get used to it then it's an amazing bike to ride. It's completely different to riding an old Ducati and I still find myself dropping gears into corners when there's no need. Cornering was amazing on 916 but I find you can go harder on the blade and still feel comfortable, you can then pin the throttle and get an awesome rush of speed ( then brakes) which are very strong. Feeling all Fired up now lol, roll on the good weather!
I went from an ER6F to my 09 and on the test ride I said out loud " f**k me this is like an Exocet missile" . Any way bought it and now on my 2nd one. Very easy to ride , you will love it.
Hi, congrats on the purchase. Looks a lovely bike btw. I had a massive 22+ years gap in biking until this time last year. I left biking all those years ago & was riding a GSX-R750 - litre bikes in those days were huge. I was only a 8 stone weakling then & didn't fancy a litre bike. This time last year I really fancied getting back into biking; deciding my sport bike days were long past I bought a Street TripleR. Great bike to ease myself back in - but only 300 miles on a new machine I didn't get on with a naked bike. So decided to buy a new blade - well 0% finance was the massive carrot! But before I took the plunge Honda Letchworth were great - they allowed me long test drives on the 600RR & the blade. Litre bikes are much smaller & have a better/lower centre of gravity than the bikes of 22 years ago lol Considering my massive gap in riding & buying a blade - it has been great. The blade is such an easy bike to ride & it doesn't feel 'big'. I said to the sales guy at Honda that I thought the blade was an easy bike to ride & he said to me "it's an easy bike to ride, but a hard bike to ride well". Probably true - but i don't mind being the slowest blade rider It is a cracking bike - take it easy like me & you'll have a lot of fun. It can be docile & you can pootle around on it; but can be mental if you want it to be. I can wait to get back out on it this spring.
Lovely looking bike that you've purchased. You'll get on just fine with it as long as you appreciate that if you really twist the throttle you WILL take off like a rocked. I was another one who'd spent nearly 20yrs away from bikes and returned to the biking scene with a late Kawasaki ZX6R about three years ago to get myself back into biking (Mid Life Crisis ). Then after having it about 18months I had the yearning for a 1000cc bike. Bough myself an 11 plate Fireblade and found it so much easier to ride than the ZX6R. Really well balanced, agile and light. It honestly is an easier bike to ride than my ZX6R, but I always remember that I only need half as much throttle as the 600 to accelerate at the same speed. I'm not the fastest rider, but I do enjoy opening it up on the straights coming out of corners. Just be smooth when you wind on the power.
