Don't go as fast.... But spend all day in the back wheel Sorry al, flawed plan lol.... Although, I do think a naked might be a little less ballistic on ride outs.... But then I'd just get the hump and try and keep up on that ha ha
Sorry Al but if I owned a Honda c50 I'd still need to go as fast as I could and get done for speeding! The secret is not the bike but where you do it........and a certain amount of good fortune of course!
YT matey, most of us have been there, the buzz of track can never be replicated on the road, but you can ride on the road in a way that still gives a buzz, it just needs understanding that they are 2 different things, and need different approaches. It will come back in time YT, but just go and enjoy the track and the racing, the road will always be there long after you hang up your race number.
It is a tough one, but for me, racing is everything now. I didn't ride my Blade for 4 months whilst getting ready for the season last year and then once the season actually got under way, I realised that this was where the fun element lay for me. I sold the Blade and have not looked back since. The roads nowadays aren't the place to try to use a sportsbike properly, the odds are just stacked against you. I lost a very good mate back in March, who hit a pedestrian. Both were killed instantly. One of the hardest things,was reading the posts on facebook from his 13 year old daughter. He left behind his fiancee and 4 kids. I know that racing isn't the safest of sports, but the circuit is designed with safety in mind. If you come off, the chances are you more than likely walk away. There are no cars/white lines/cats eyes/crappy surfaces etc etc to contend with. I certainly am not saying that riding on the road is no fun, I just think that on a sportsbike, the track is the way forward. I may go back on the road on day, but it would be on something totally different, that made sense at 70mph, rather than 170mph. Until then, I am going to continue having the time of my life racing.
Maybe I should downgrade to a 6? I love the blade but just can't help feel that its going to get me arrested!
I don't think that would solve it. I took my old R6 (which has now been fully rebuilt into a spare bike) out on the road as before I started to race it, it had a daylight MOT. It was worse than the Blade, as you just wanted to ride everywhere at even more loopy speeds. It was a naughty bike and should only be ridden on the track.
agree... my 08 r6 brought out the worst in me! lol... my license was in no way safer on road than blade, but a top top bike! toured all over europe on it. imo the only way to stop riding like a loon on road is to not do it on a sportsbike.... not saying you should, but 9/10 when you head out, it just end up naughty, but i'd be lying if i said i dont like it - just question the sanity of it sometimes. ha ha
gotta agree with jimbo there mate. A 600 will bring out the worst of you I'd say, why? you'll always wanna ride the bike in it's power zone, and where is that? above 10K, and that'll automatically be twice the legal speed either sell the blade and buy an old mans bike(pan european, BMW(not the s1000rr ) more the touring bike. or sell both bikes at the end of this year buy a newer race bike and put a MOT on it so you still can tour with your dad every now and then, or just sell the R6 and track the blade (because you know this is what will happen come november)
My previous bike have been upright touring/adventurer style bikes, my blade is my first sports bike. I think there is something about the ridding position that makes you want to ride fast. I would get a sports tourer or similar, ive been toying with the idea myself, i keep thinking one day this blade is going to get me into trouble!
not sure why / how but my Big Bang is way worse for risk of landing me in trouble and I'm not the only one to say it either - just takes off like nothing else I've ridden Maybe we all need grey import 400's again!
I still enjoy riding on the road, pick your time (early mornings) and favorite roads and you can still have fun. You dont have to ride like twat to enjoy yourself. I suppose having never done a trackday etc, I dont know what I am missing. Roll on Spring/Summer cant wait to get out again
My two-penneth worth. The reason I love riding on the road is because you get to see scenery and go places. All the while not getting stuck in traffic and also getting to enjoy the road on a great bike. I tend to ride fairly soberly and then I'll see a great stretch of road and have a daft 5 minutes, then calm down until I see the next bit of road that's begging to be done fast.
