What tyre pressures do you use (warm weather). Last year I was using F 34 R38. Just put on Pirellis DRC with a 55 on the rear. Would you guys recommend similar tyre pressures? Thanks
I've got DRC's in 55 profile and had my suspension set up and was recommended 36f and 36r but use 34f and 36r and it handles well
i was down to 28 cold in the rear at Mallory track day. felt horrible for the first few laps then improved. while on the subject of pressure who puts nitrogen in their tyres ? done it for years in race cars . the result is less volatile pressure changes. helps as has less moisture content as well.
Because it doesn't fall in line with manufacturers recommendations. Some would invalidate it if you mix different makes of tyre.
I use 30-34 rear and 32 front for 'having fun in snowdonia' as at 42rear I found that nailing it out of corners if the revs were high caused the back to step out, the lower pressure stops this. Also find that a lower rear pressure gives a bit more feel and confidence in rear grip in the wet. For long journeys on mix of roads tend to stick to 36 /42
36f / 42r just like it says in the owner's manual. I figure if the brainboxes at Honda have said that's what I should have, who's a heat exchanger tube salesman to argue?
Recommendations or not, you tell your insurance company that and see where it gets you. I take it you do a lot of trackdays and are clued up on tyre pressures.
At the risk of being controversial my take on this is the OEM recommended pressures are set so high as they have to allow for all riding scenarios. Too high a pressure is better than too low a pressure, within reason. Therefore the OEM recommendations have to allow for Fat Bastards and Pillions, hence the 36F & 42R As all Trackdayers know far lower pressures (28F & 25R) give optimal grip albeit at Track Speeds which generate more heat in the Tyre Carcass than any Fast Road riding will. If you only ride your Bike Solo with no Pillion then pressures of 34R & 36F are a good average for Fast(ish) Road riding which will always generate less heat than ragging round a Track. These are the pressures I run on my Blade using Pirelli Diablo Corsa's and they are awsome.
Nope! 55 has been recommended by Honda in the past and is used as a standard Aspect Ratio by other OEM's with comparable models so no insurance Co would have a leg to stand on if they tried the 'unsafe card' etc
Have you had your suspension setup done for you? Ever since having mine done 36/42 has given me all the feel I could need.
