So I'm picking up my RR7 HRC this weekend, its totally standard with tiny mileage. I don't plan to start pimping it, but I thought it would be wise to learn about what are the popular upgrades or modifications that many blade owners do? Are there any no brainers that everyone should have?
Suspension makes the biggest difference. Braided hoses are a must. Full exhaust system for noise & BHP followed but a quality air filter and power commander. Cosmetics are your taste. Wheels are expensive but lower unsprung weight and make a big difference.
Black ASV levers, comfort seat, Yoshimura crank case guards and get the suspension set up buy a specialised. From the Great Guy.
Got my 07 a year ago Colly, first was a tail tidy, then a seat cowl, then a scorpion can, some stomp grips, remove rear pegs, r&g engine cases, some aero crash bungs, xenon bulbs for the lights, and a more "aerodynamically efficient" number plate . An "Alpha Suspension" setup.
Crash bungs! Rear hugger, tail tidy, DB screen, radiator guard, levers, braided lines. Those are things on my list. Some already done
Thanks guys, I hear braided hoses are a must - will look into that - what makes/brands are good value? I also want new levers, I saw some called Bad Dog on sportsbikeshop: Bad Dog Brake Levers - F-33 - FREE UK DELIVERY - which look nice. Will think about tidy tail in time. Does the double bubble screen make a big difference? Suspension wise I'll have to find someone (in Dublin) who can do it. I'm very light so I'm sure the bike is set up for people much heavier than me. It's also very tall - I'm short so on my toes - might consider getting it lowered as long as it does not mess up the handling. Any others? I read about a quickshifter they sound amazing, but that's a long way off haha
I've got an 59 model. I'm less than 70KG fully geared and found the suspension a little hard. What ever was done I could not use the last inch of travel, in the end the internals changed to K-tech with 9Nm springs, night and day! see here for thread http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/15009.htm
Forget all that until you've fitted a Radiator Guard. Not very exciting I know but come summer and the county councils are covering everything with stone chips you'll wish you'd listened to us. Those Honda 'rads' are fragile, exposed, expensive and 'a bind' to replace. Just sayin'. Nick.
Thanks for this lads. So what braided brake lines are recommended. I see there is a deal to get HEL ones form BikeBitsNI so might do that. Are they are DIY fit? Definitely interested to get my suspension done, can any mechanic do this or do I need a specialist? I wont be doing it any time soon but if I wanted a nice sounding exhaust without being crazy loud and costing mad money, what are the popular choices?
I put a MTC slip on mine nice sound with baffle and good value https://www.mtcexhausts.com/Home_Page.php
