I'm hoping to do my first ever track day this year (not sure where yet) but am confused about decibel limits. Whilst researching I can see that each track has its own db limit and bikes over the limit will be refused entry. Does anyone know roughly what db level my 2013 blade fitted with a yoshi r77 will put out? Thanks for your help.
They can vary how they measure the sound..........Donnington do a flyby check (I think metered as you cross start finish straight).........Silverstone have sound monitor equipment at various points around course........Mallory usually check as your standing still getting you to rev engines to a set limit (varies on size of cc of bike)........seen many with Yoshi s but make sure you have a good db killer to hand...... usually there will be help on hand (at a cost) to help reduce dbs.........keep a eye on db levels on who is organising the day.....
Should be 101db with baffle in that's what my 2009 is with the same exhaust. For the stationary test they will test it at 5.5k revs also make sure bike is warmed up before you take it for the test don't take it cold as it will be slightly louder .
the 04/7's are good though as they have a longer system,it's the stubby systems that struggle expecially without a baffle.
Is that a Yoshi mark if it is don't know how you managed that ?i rewadded mine then tested it with baffle in and it was 101db and Yoshi do say they are 101db on the paperwork that comes with them .Without baffle bet it's 104-105 .
Thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge & experience with me. As a first track day I'm thinking about Castle Coombe simply because its the nearest and I will have to ride there as don't have the luxury of bike transport. I know you experienced guys will think its a dull track (all right handers etc) but for a complete novice who wants to give it a go its a starting point. The db limit at Castle Coombe is 105 so from what you guys say I should be fine. Now I'm in the mood I need to get me some 2nd hand leathers if anyone has any going. Not looking for the dogs gonads but a tidy set that I can use just for a few track days. I'm 5ft 10 and weigh approx 15 stone (big boned not fat). Once again thanks for all your help!
Ahh, yer can't fool us with all that "I'm just Big Boned" Bollox! Tas been scientifically proven that's not true!
Rumbled.....thanks sinewave...I would have got away with it if it hadn't have been for the meddling kids!
