Were they playing? I only look on premier league section on the BBC Tbh, shows you how tight it is, you win has shot you right up. Fair play
Tonight on BT sport at 7pm Arsenal v Man Utd, could be another 3 points for United as we seldom do well against them.
Hoping the Gunners get back on track tonight. Still think it was a missed opportunity not to strengthen the side in January though. Benzema and Van Dijk could have made a huge difference. Instead we get an injured Kallstrom. Listeing to Ginola on Talkshite Radio this morning reminded me of pelting him with scrunched up cardboard, along with others, during the second leg of the semi final of the cup winner cup in 94 at Highbury against PSG. That's what he got for slagging Dixon off. I also ran on the pitch at the final whistle that night. And the downsizing of my first team continues as well, which is quite depressing. No chance of me paying for BT sport tonight though, so will just be doing something else I think.
I'm hoping united thump Arsenal hard Will be watching it now I have BT broadband so I got the channel for free, sweet!
Don't think we're quite ready to challenge for the title this season tbh. Sure we have a potent strike force and we'll always score goals but with 3 of our 4 first choice defenders out injured (although Flanno may soon be regarded as first choice should his current form continue) we'll always concede goals too. Sure against the lesser sides there's every chance that we will outscore them eg Stoke & Fulham but against the top 3 x teams if we concede then there is every chance that we will lose or at best draw as their defences will be much tighter and they also have the firepower to hurt us again. Arsenal last week, when we turned in the most awesome first 20 mins performance of any game I have ever seen by a Liverpool team in the 45 years I've been watching them to completely blow them away, was a one off in my opinion and wont be repeated in my lifetime I'm sure. That said a top four finish is well within our capabilities plus we may well have a say on where the title lands as both City and Chelsea have yet to visit Anfield. My opinion? Chelsea for me. Simply because of the Mourinho factor however as I have a few friends who are City fans and imho they are the more entertaining team to watch then I do hope City win it if we don't. That said I'd be more than happy for Liverpool to prove me wrong. It's gonna be a very interesting run in to the season that's for sure.
A really hard fought win for us today but a little too close for comfort for me. Threatening going forward but woefully sloppy at the back. Worryingly that was our first choice back four imo. Admittedly Johno wasn't really match fit after his injury lay off though. As I've said before better teams will take advantage of our defensive generosity and shut us out at the other end. Two tough away games now - Southampton next weekend and then United. 4 points from those two games would be great. So nice attending games in late Feb when we are still in with a shout of a top 4 place or dare I say it the title Good times.
As a fellow lfc fan in the past these are games we would of drawn or lost. Like Fulham away a few weeks ago, I don't think we will win the league but with city and Chelsea still to visit Anfield we're going to have a big say in it who does and you just never know!!
You're right. The fact that we have the confidence and the firepower to recover after falling behind or after being pegged back is refreshing. As you say in the not too diistant past we wouldn't have been able to do that and we would have either drawn or lost these type of games. Some massive games at Anfield to look forward to in the coming weeks and I for one can't wait
Watching the Manure game in the pub with a couple of Manks, as a neutral there is zero fear factor left with this team, it's going take a full rebuild to get back to former glory
Slighly off topic but why have they put France into a qualifying group for Euro 2018 as the hosts they have qualified and the teams they play the results don't count for points.....bizarre !! UEFA all over.
Is that right? Makes good sense tbh. At least it will mean that the host nation can participate in semi-competitive matches in the 2 years leading upto the finals rather than fit in meaningless friendlies which is not an ideal preparation for any team leading upto the finals of a competition. On a slightly cynical note - would Platini have been as supportive of such a change if any other country bar France had been the host? Hey I'm a centurion poster. *Holds bat aloft and acknowledges the standing ovation from the packed stands*
