Okay, ideally it would include carbon wheels and titanium everything. Budget needless to say wouldn't possibly allow. Am I right in thinking that I should be trying to remove mass from rotational masses and unsprung weight first? I see titanium exhausts come up second hand at reasonable prices, but that is neither of the above. Ideally I want to upgrade as things need replacing, caliper bolts and chain have seen better days. I'm no pro racer so perhaps looking at mechanially sympathetic mods. What should I looking at? Alu/titanium bolts for the discs and calipers Chain and sprockets Penny for your thoughts (unless you're going to tell me to save myself a fortune and cut back on the chips).
Putting yourself on a diet is the most cost effective method of saving weight lol. It is correct that saving in unsprung weight will much much more effective than sprung weight but apart from wheels there is not huge weight savings to be made a titanium exhaust system will knock off a few kilos and a lightweight battery is also good.
I'm on the diet myself, it is not cheap!! Not eating or eating little is not a diet, its starvation. ;-) I eat 1kg of meat and veg every day and it is not as cheap as eating "normal" food.
954 has a titanium exhaust as standard I think (definitely the can, possibly not the rest of the system though, can't remember).
I thought the rest of it was Titanium too, but I can't be certain. It may not have been the 954. I am sure one of them around this age did though.
Mine came with a stainless steel "fuel" end can. Almost certain it isn't OEM. Asthetically it doesn't do it for me. The bike has never been dropped though judging from the condition and millage. Cannot see anyone swapping stock titanium for SS. Will check the downpipes. Thank you for the feedback guys.
The base weight of the 954 is about 166kg so it was light to start, but with a titanium exhaust and bolts, carbon wheels you could easily lose 7 kg

If your changing the chain and sprockets you could look at putting a 520 kit on it, and also depending on if you wanted to play with the gearing for more acceleration etc !
