Hello all... As advised, i finally got my suspension set up on my RR6. I kept hearing how its the best thing you can do to your blade, and after various attempts to get my head round it and set it up myself, i gave in and took it to Steve Jordan Motorcycles near Leatherhead last monday ! I confirm.. If you haven't already, go and get it done !! Really nice people down at Steve Jordans. Juggled things around last minute to accommodate me as i just on the off chance happened to be in the area, cups of tea and chats and all that ! Steve set my bike up, laser aligned the wheels and then spent time after he'd sat me on the bike to remeasure everything to explain what he'd done, why you do it, why what does what and a whole host of other information relating to the handling of a bike and suggested upgrades... I took the bike for a test ride... So much better ! I didn't have great issue with how it handled before and i would just get on with it and compensated like you do when ever it understeered or twitch now and then, but now we are on rails ! It was instantly noticeable ! You could feel how the back and front was working together and balanced. A high speed bend down the A3 that i would normally hit at about 140-150mph and the bike would start drifting a little and get a slight seesaw snaking on (if you know than feeling ) but wed get round, now it just hugged the line and didn't move and i even powered it more ! So happy with it, new found confidence and thats just with the standard suspension... Steve advised if I'm keeping the bike i may want to invest in an Ohlins, K Tech or a Nitron so i can get it better still and raise the back up a bit. All in all, best £62 you can spend on your bike, totally go and do it !! Heres the set up card Steve gave me. At the moment I'm 104kgs without riding gear, so anyone else around that weight with a RR6 or 7, it might give you an idea to work from...
I can defo recommend MCT mate, they know there stuff wether its road/ race or trackday If your local its a no brainer.
MCT on my "bits" list for this year, as my blade is a 09 I was thinking of getting the oil changed in the shocks as well.
Had mine done at FTR in Bury St Edmunds and totally agree with the comments above worth every pennny and strangely enough the settings on my RR6 are very similar to the ones on yours Blackness
Agree with fez a would not be admitting to those sort of speeds on public roads leave it to the track ,walls have ears so so
That's brilliant but does anyone know or recommend a good suspension tuner in the North Wales, Chester area? Thanks in advance.
Glad you've given this feedback mate, I'm going to get mine setup at cadwell on sunday. Hopefully that with the adjusted rearsets to my body position will enable me to finally ride the feckin thing!!
