I'm currently planning a Scotland trip with a friend and my bro over 9 days this year. Never been and always wanted to! Has anyone else got any nice trips planned this year? inspire me.....
Trip to Normandy and a weekend to see the Earl of Exeter...gonna try and see some of the lads off here racing.
TT in May/June. 6 days in the Eifel, Germany in September. A quick jaunt to Germany in April/May, haven't decided when, probably last minute job.
Off to Motogp in May/June to Mugello, 4 of us going Tuesday to Tuesday riding down. Doing a car track day at Spa the beginning of July, then doing the Crumble Rally end of July which is drive down to Reims on the Thursday in a £200 banger, then drive for three days to Venice and scrap the car there and fly home ! So quite an eventful year !!
Thank you. In September I will be with a group and at the TT I'll be with a long time friend of mine. As for the ad hoc trip, I'll be on my own, however if I plan it in advance I'll post up the details here in case anybody else is interested.
From St Malo on 18th June across France couple of nights in Chamonix then across the alps, Furka/Oberalp probably, to lake Como for a couple of nights, up to Lake Constance, Mosel then up to Assen for the MotoGP on 27-28. Assen Hotel and gp tickets booked already. Just hoping the last two weeks of June are drier than they were for us last year!
How long to you stay on the road for before you have a break? Never done a long trip on the blade yet.
For me personally I don't set a limit, I just pull in when I'm ready. You'll know when that is. If I was to take an average, I would say 80-90 miles as I know that's when my knees start to feedback that they're pissed off! For other riders, it might be more but I find that this is about 60-70 minutes. Going on my estimation that would be 340 miles in about 4-5 hours depending how long you rested/took to refuel. Add lunch and that would be around 6 hours. Not a bad pace.
Yeah, generally about the same. Depends on the riding, weather, roads even how many days you've already been away, sometimes the aches just set in earlier than other days.
First big trip for me and couple of mates this year, we decided to do the Route Napoleon. Going in June and taking 7 days to get there and back, lots of time to enjoy the roads and scenery. Have been looking at other threads on the site, a good amount of information on here. Intend to ride about 300 miles a day, with lots of coffee/smoke stops. Going to pre book hotels over the next few weeks and using Euro tunnel
Subaru trackday in Mettet, Belgium on Easter Monday. May 20th to Portsmouth to sail to Santander, then head west taking in the Pyrenees, Andorra, Monaco and finishing in Alessandria in northern Italy. We will then take an overnight train to Holland before making our way back to Calais to take the ferry back to Blighty on June 1st,then back home. 5 bikes setting off and a 6th joining us in France 5 days into the trip.
Going to do Scotland again this year. We.re staying just north of Glasgow in the same cottage as last year. Already got some of the roads planned and hopefully a few more will be added. Going to get over to Sky if there's time.
TT in May/June with the wife. Staying at a B&B this year so looking forward to it. Not got anything else planned, but hopefully we can do some exploring of Scotland. With the new camera I am eager to get out and take some shots.
