I spent all morning chain sawing and all afternoon learning how to weld.

There's so much testosterone running through my veins right now I'm afraid just reading this might make you pregnant.

There is something about using a chain saw that just makes me smile. As for welding, never tried it but I don't think I would enjoy it as much as using a chainsaw though.

You got to love em! Sadly they are necessity in my life, as a result of only wood for heat in our house that's life, over the years I do a few odd saw jobs here and there to help pay the bills, also I love them as quite simply they have an engine and I love anything with an engine, that brings me to my two new saws, they have M Tronic technology, in short they are self tuning two strokes, they have a Multi port engine that uses fresh air to push out exhaust gasses making them much more environmentally friendly, they also have cleaver self tuning electronics that basically leans of the engine until the revs rise, it then enriches the mixture so the revs drop then it sets the TPS in the middle, it does this 60 times a second and thus compensates for fuel, air, air filter and other environmental factors, giving the perfect tune, they are a new bread of saw with massive power to weight, amazing? why yes, and all this in a tiny little black box inside a chainsaw! That's Stihl for ya...

Oh and do we/I tune up saw, you bet your ass I do...

lol, they do high performance CDIs for them, but no need with the new suckers, they RIP (no pun), mean little bastids!

Some port and polish them, adjust the squish and so on, two stroke port timing is key for power and revs..

When I read my posts back I realise am a sad git really....lol

    Careful there that man.

I just play at it, to be honest. For a long time it was the only powered saw I didn't possess and I was forbidden to buy one by the wife.

Until, that is, one of our trees became particularly annoying to her and she wanted it gone. Then the ban was lifted. I only used it on Saturday to work my way down to the crown of a willow, damaged in the storms, so that I could copse it. But it turned an all day job into a 90 minute one. My brother is the real chainsaw expert. He managed to turn up just as I took it out of it's bag and stood there giving me his best Obi Wan look as I munched through the tangled branches.

It was him that turned up a couple of weeks ago stating he had a present for me and hoisted the welder and a box of accessories out of the back of his van.

My mask has flames on it...
