Ok so Im new to the Blade and because of this im a little unsure what may constitute a fault or more importantly the beginnings of potential faults. There are just one or two small things that ive noticed in the last few days as im riding the Blade more and more, learning its character. Now i might be suffering from a little paranoia here but heres the two small things that are worrying me a little, any help would be gratefully appreciated.. I currently have a 2013 Repsol Blade thats only done 700 miles, bought it from a member here. Ive noticed a couple of what seem to be irritating niggles or at least i hope thats all they are. Firstly when the bike is cold and on first attempt it just won't go into 6th gear, you knock it up and for a second it will indicate 6th on the dash but then go back to 5th and it never feels like it clicked into 6th, so you have to knock it up again for it to finally click in. This only happens when its cold and never when its warm... The second small issues is as follows, when im in gear cruising all is fine but as soon as i shut the throttle off or engage the throttle i get that clunking noise, so its throttle on "slight clunk", throttle off, "slight clunk".. I never seemed to notice this on the R1 but do on the blade. Today i put it on a rear stand, put it in gear just to see how much play there was, never done this before with any bike. There appears to be about 2inches of play, does this sound about normal?? I know these are only two small sounding issues but if there is something not quite right then i'd like to nip it in the bud now if need be. However if im being a tad over dramatic then please say then at least i can sleep better.... Cheers boy's.....
Hi bud might not be close but worth a shot 700 miles has chain been adjusted ? If more than 30mm ish slack might cause you issues ?
Also the thing when I first got my rr6 many moons ago I was so worried about noises everyone told me to forget about them it's a Honda thing . So I did bike was trouble free so I just jump on my 12 now and don't pay much attention
This is what im thinking, because its a new bike and new model for me i may be getting overly paranoid about every little noise i hear......
I get the same thing, its the honda sloppy gearbox i reckon, my aprilia gearbox was so tight and smooth.
Very interesting, i think i notice more because i never had this on the R1. Yesterday im asking myself if the gear box is on its way out... Thanks Bloy...
Yeah, im not too fussed about it, its still a bad ass bike! Does yours have an aftermarket exhaust? If you have one without a power commander sometimes the fueling can cause a sloppy feel
I have an Akro on but im not sure if theres anything wrong with the fuelling as she really doesn't feel sloppy. Its just that missing 6th gear when cold but mainly the clunking when shutting or opening the throttle and the 2 inches of play...

if your not happy get it checked out bud then again might cost you did you get it cheaper maybe there was a problem? before sale
Bike shops work in the rain too...I had mine done Friday... Almost had to swim to it... Workshop was dry though...
Im a little ocd when it comes to my pride and joy getting wet or dirty lol but it will go in this week regardless....
Yeah it has full warranty but im seeing that the clunking when opening and shutting the throttle is the norm and i will mention the fact that when cold the first attempt at 6th misses when it goes in for its service this week...
