Well the saga of getting my bike custom mapped is getting ridiculous now. 1. Booked into Crescents at Verwood on 4th Feb. Booking cancelled by Crescents due to Dyno breaking. 2. Booked into Crescents at Verwood on 25th Feb. When it was booked the person who booked it wrote at the bottom of the booking that it was a rebook due to Dyno breaking so that I would get it for the special price of the earlier booking. On arriving at Crescents the service bloke said that it had been rebooked due to the Dyno being broken. I said what again and he said yes we may have to replace the complete Dyno. Ok I will get it done elsewhere. I rode home thought about it and remembered that the first person had written at the bottom about the rebook and that it might have just been a mistake. So I phone to ask if this was the case. The bloke that had told me that the Dyno was broken in the shop asked the person that had written in the book and she confirmed that it was a mix up and the Dyno wasn't broken. The bloke then came back on the phone, after me hearing all this as he didn't put the phone on mute, and said that the Dyno was broken but they could rebook it for me straight away. That was two lies to me in the space of an hour. Thank you Crescents after buying a few bikes from you and numerous performance parts and riding gear I will never darken your door again. 3. Bike booked into Moore Speed Racing in Poole. What a great bunch of blokes coffee on arrival show me around the shop and the workshop and a few customers specials that they are building. The technician then informs me that the TPS for the Power Commander is connected to the wrong plug, some idiot of a home mechanic did that, yes it was me. He then sorted that and got on with the mapping and then had to stop as the valve cover gasket was leaking oil although at first it was thought that it was a small amount when he took off the air box there were puddles of oil near the throttle bodies. Oh Bugger. After some frantic phone calls to some Honda dealers, Bournemouth Honda, Fowlers and Dave Silver. There are no gaskets in the UK and will be 3 to 5 days to be here. Well needless to say the bike was staying there as it was in bits so I didn't want to have them put it back together only to take it apart in a few days time. They were most helpful offering me the courtesy bike while mine was there but a phone call to the long haired general she is on her way to get me. When the gasket arrives they are going to fit it and then do the map hopefully then the saga will be over. Oh yes and I get a laminated printout of the final Dyno run so will know exactly how much power its making and then by dividing that by 4 will able to work out exactly how much power I actually use hahaha.
Hi Haggler Nope its a 2011 model that why I was a bit surprised the gasket went as its only just done 4000 miles but im the second owner so don't know if the first one did anything to it.
Betcha connected the TPS to the MAP! Guilty of that too! Who in their right mind would have both in the same area of the engine with the same connector!
yes Slick that's exactly what I did. Note to Mr Honda I know that you probably don't want untrained people working on your fine machines but when a third party says on its products that its plug and play an ejit such as myself with the mechanical skills of a shaved monkey will find the nearest plug that fits and plug it into that. Not saying your the same Slick you probably did it just as a test......
Great people at More Speed, I deal with them and am always happy, tbh the service has always been above expectations, I am proud to use them for my parts.
He he! But in my defence I don"t shave so I guess that makes me a monkey!. Luckily I didn't go as far to getting to the dyno. It was only when I connected to the dynojet software that when I was calibrating the TPS noticed the throttle wasn't registering as it stayed at a constant voltage. The PCV came off my previous CB1000R (same connectors) so I thought it was not compatible. Gave DJ a called call and hey presto they diagnosed it was connected to the MAP sensor. First time it's actually very fiddly to disconnect the TPS and connect the PCV! I'm sure there will be many more shaved monkeys out there!
Why do you say that Haggler? Sounds like a right nightmare.. Heard good things about crescents so surprised
Weird - I just looked at my PCV and it does not have a connection to the TPS - 2 injector connections, then a multiplug. I have removed mine (short term) to eliminate the idle at 4,500 problem I am having with the bike (which I hope is the MAP sensor) - I also looks at the TPS and thought '2 blue connectors, similar area, same type - wonder which is which' but checked the wiring diagram and have it correct. How come my PCV has no TPS sensor connection ?
Al the PCV had to switch its connector plugs when honda brought out the 2012 bike as honda had changed the wiring loom to incorporate different plugs! Think the later models the tps is tapped into from the larger tap plug!
