I was a Little concerned concerned after reading this thread so phoned Matt last night and had a natter. 99 percent sure after chatting with Matt it's nothing to worry about . She has 18 months of warranty left do mr honda will take of anything if there's something a miss. Never heard off a blade with a sloppy gearbox tho . They have one of the smoothest transmissions I've come across on a sports bike :).

My previous Aprilia i owned before the blade had a much smoother, tigther gearbox, but with expensive parts and electrical problems a sweet gearbox didnt win me over :D

It wont explain the clunking on/off throttle (I would investigate that - you haven't got something loose under the rear seat have you; like a disc lock), but have you adjusted the gearshift lever to suit you? If its too high, your change to 6th may not be positive enough.

I am with Wedgie, sounds like a drive chain adjustment issue.

As for the clunking on/off throttle, mine does that all the time, albeit its a 10 plate model, and is down to the poorly developed mapping Honda threw into it, saying that later models have listed improvements to smooth that out.

Nothing under the seat and nothing adjusted, the clunking comes form the engine area...

Just booked it into Rochdale Honda for Wednesday morning, Ive used Rochdale Honda in the past when i had my cbr600rr and found them to be very good as apposed to Hunts who ive heard nothing but horror stories about.

Had a brief chat o the phone with the service manager and he said its the chain without question and is normal or common but im still not convinced as the chain looks perfect to me, but who am i to argue.....

Thanks to all the guy's here for your input its very much appreciated...

So back from first service today and a couple of things came up of interest.

Firstly They said a few error codes were present due to the Akropovic slip-on being installed so they said they reset those and remapped it which in turn should make her run smoother...

Secondly on the missing 6th gear and this confuses me a little but who am i to argue. They said there is a common fault with the Blades, (which isn't a fault but is so i was told). They say that the Gear change peg is set at standard to low for most riders and needs adjusting for each individual. So it was explained to me that i was changing up but the peg hadn't fully dropped to its original position because my foot was still there stopping it.. Damn this is so hard to explain in a post but so simple to explain in person... Anyway on the way home i knock up into 5th from 4th and all i get is the engine reving its bollocks off and the gear indicator showing a steady black line?? Don't know what happen there but got home and have made a few adjustments, just waiting now for a dry day to go and test her....

    Besides that all is good.....

Hmmm.. The gear change levers are defo set In a position that suits a larger foot. The black like between 4th and 5th is kinda like a false neutral as it's not properly engaged in a gear I would of thought. Did they charge you 45 quid to reset the ecu for error codes ? I wouldn't if thought it would of been throwing any faults up Matt unless you didn't position the servo under the seat correctly when installing the akro.. It needs to go back exactly :). You'll be looking at r1s soon :). Are you going oulton Saturday?

Don't quote me on the above tho. I could be wrong ha

Mmm... I get a fase neutral about once a month. But always in a lower gear. Never between 5th and 6th. Or 4th to 5th. My 600RR used to do it too. Different boots can help or hinder (I found moving from my old Pumas to SDI's brought on a bout of false neutrals around 2nd-3rd for a while a few years back). I don't ride with my foot under the gear lever though, so maybe that's why you're getting issues.. Or just tight tendons :)

It maybe a combination of me having chunky feet and maybe not tapping up hard enough Daz, i tend to try and feather the gear changes but im sure its not a big issue. No they didn't charge any extra mate, just charged for the service.

The biggest problem i have with the service is that back tar like oil they put on your chain that then covers your back wheel when riding home, ive spent most of the evening trying to get all the oil of my wheels and re-cleaning the chain, my own fault for not telling them to leave the chain alone....

Will defo be going back to the R1 but not for a couple of years yet, im hoping they will release a beast at the end of the year then i will let them iron out any gremlins and get one for 2016....

Im going on Saturday Daz, are you up for it mate?? They say it will be warm and dry, i can meet you at somewhere like Hunts and go met the boys on track????

I actually have my toes on the pegs and move my foot under the gear peg only when changing gear but will leave it there for a few seconds if i know im going to be changing through a few gears at once because of hard acceleration.....
