Oh dear , I could bore you to death with this one. The original GSX1100ET to come to Europe from Japan. This bike was given by Suzuki to a drag racer called Pip Higham in Manchester. He turned it into a Pro Stock dragbike and campaigned it for a couple of years in 1980/81. He then dismantled it and I bought most of the chassis in 1983. I bought a stock 1000 Katana engine off Jack Valentine (BSB Werx Suzuki Team Manager) and built it into a 1000cc Road Legal sprint bike. I won about 3 championships in 1983 and then converted it to a Pro Stocker with a 1260 tuned engine running on AVGAS. Here's the Streetbike fitted with an airshifter.

Here's a few of the Pro Stocker that I eventually converted to a 1325., you can see the shifter just in front of my left foot in the first picture.

The airshifter is a pneumatic cylinder attached to the gearshift. You launch in 1st and immediately punch the button on the bars. This sends a 150psi air signal to a small solenoid that cuts the ignition for a few hundredths of a second. Enough to allow the gears to unmesh enough to shift into the next gear when the same signal goes to the air shifter attached to the gear lever. The air supply is from a tank under the seat or is part of the swingarm. It only upshifts though!

Used to be a slim 9 stone in 84, now I'm a 12 stone, beer bellied old fart at 52. Was racing from 1982 until 1988, no mortgage, wife or kids. Built my bike on a budget. Was great beating the chequebook riders that couldn't even do a burnout without mashing the valvegear!!!

Nothing accelerates like a Pro Stock drag bike, except a rocket. 0 to 60 in less than 1.5 seconds. Managed 8.92 at 152 terminal in 87

Cheers gents. Yes Remal. Geared to rev out in top at the end of a 1/4 mile. Burnout on water and then dry concrete to warm the tyre up. Test launch , hopefully on sticky rubber layed down by the Top Fuel and Funny cars and stage slightly after the other guy. Hold revs at about 6000 in pre-stage, edge forward into stage, 4 amber lights, revs up to 8000, amber lights go out and launch before you see the green. The front end lifts about 4", sits on the wheelie bars, and the engine weight transfers to the 8 1/2" slick with around 220 to 250 BHP going through it. Hit shifter immediately for second at 11000RPM and hold throttle wide open and punch shifter just before the valves clash with the pistons. Max out the revs as you go through the 1/4 mile lights, shut off, don't need brakes with 13 / 14 to 1 compression ratio . Turn about 1/2 mile from the start and stop the engine before it seizes and wait for a mate on the pitbike with a rope to tow you to the pits. What a rush!!!
