    Has anyone used this system?
I met some peeps with a set and it seemed impressive. However, there are some scathing reviews online.
I'd like something I can use with the misses on the back and when she's on her little bike (so I can bez off in front and not need to be constantly watching my mirrors)
I don't want to pay £300 if it's something I end up not using because it constantly cuts out or freezes

    Jonny,

Not a helpful comment but I have been looking at these too for very similar reasons so will be very interested to see any responses. I have also considered the new Autocom Air units (I have always been an Autocom man as the quality is really good) but cannot find any decent reviews and am looted to spend the money if they are rubbish!

Not sure on the G9 but I use the G4 version.Great for rides out with the mates or bluetooth your music via your phone. The speakers are ok-ish, the range is anything up to a mile in open spaces but generally a 1/4 mile in built up areas. The radio is ok but limited pick up.3 way was hit n miss. The answer and in call features are what it is good at.Great safety device too, forewarning people of debris, speed cameras and unmarked police cars.I've had mine for two years and wouldn't road-ride without one.

Thanks Sideways. So I think I get you right in saying that as a two way system it is OK, but any more than that and it starts to fall over?
The Phone usage and FM radio are secondary for me really. I may use them, but it is really as a communication device I'm interested in them.

Mike, Let's just expand the thread and see if anyone has experience with the Autocom units. I'm not tied to the idea of the Scala rider. I just want something that works well and will still be working well in a couple of years time.

weve had up to 6 using g4 and g9's no problems.

be great bike to bike with mrs, but as said the range will be an issue as folk do drop off when out of range... id say about 1/2 mile on ave on a ride out. but they do reconnect on their own.

think they a brilliant bits of kit. me and my bro in law raff have had a 3mm jack wired in so we can use the ultimate ear headphones, keeps wind noice to total min and can hear crystal clear. used my in ear iphone headphones yesterday and was fine. never tried the standard headphones though tbh so cant comment.

Well that sounds quite good. I think I can live with the range. I just seem to be spending more time looking backwards than forwards at the moment, and I think this would help. Plus it can be used on the same bike.
I was all set till I read some of the reviews of people saying they dropped out all the time.

saved my bro in laws skin yesterday when stone went through his rad and dumped coolant all over his wheels!! we were at 70 (honest) on a country lane so could of been bad.... but was called and he pulled over. not even knowing it had gone.

lisa passed her test but lost interest / confidence, im certain now if she started again and i could talk her through a few things it'd make the world of difference.

they do drop off, but if you let them do their thing pick straight back up, also more they are paired, seems the better they get, by the end of our 9 day tour last year, all three were connected all day no bother. yeah occasionally you might lose one rider, but not to the point it was an issue. couple mins max at a time.

Best bits of kit you can but for your bike if you ride out in a group or tour in my opinion.

we've connected 8 dudes no problem.
