just had a quote for my first 2 yr service on an ABS 2012 bike. £250 does that sound about right?

    Depends whats included mate.

Personally, i think that's very expensive. Can you not do it yourself Kev?

Two years sounds like it should include a brake fluid change, as said before this is quoted as several hours in the dealership alone , maybe that's why it's a bit high

All I would say at that price is that they are not changing the brake fluid, which is critical on a ABS bike IMO.

Si. I could do the service myself but there is the brake fluid to change on this service it involves ALOT of faffing about with putting the ABS in brake bleed made, watch the light flash several times etc. I think (looking at other threads) you even need to remove the exhaust headers to get a bleed behind them. As it would be out of warranty afterwards the temptation is to skip the brake fluid change and just do the oil and filter. I don't really have the time to perform that kind of major brake surgery.

I had the brake fluid service done at Honda on my Abs Blade last year. Will try and find out the service history and get back to you later. Will give you an idea of cost.

IMO that's too low for a 2 yr service if it has abs. I suspect that's not inc brake fluid change. Can you ask and clarify?

I'm pretty sure 2 yr non abs was £180 plus vat, and that inc brake and coolant fluid change, and air filter inspection, plus usual stuff. I recall on the 2012 they said it should officially have valve clearances checked as 2 yr service is now the 16k service. They said it wouldn't be worth doing though (I fully agree)

make sure its a full bleed i.e. headers off etc.

This was my cost, though as you can see a Quickshifter was fitted at the same time. It says £350 on one part but total came to £300 so don't know what happened there.. Gives you an idea anyhow.

under the bleeding 350£ bit it says 5hrs, so maybe they only needed 5 hrs and that's why you've be charged 300£ only..... just thinking aloud ;)

Even Porsches are cheaper for brake fluid changes than a freaking Jap 1 litre bike by half........how the feck did we all manage to not notice that Honda had designed a pile of shite braking system when we bought them...a mass mugging and we all went quietly like lambs to the slaughter

What? My 8k service (20th Ann on '13 plate) was £185. Including VAT... At a dealer (Motoden in Shoreditch) (Add a new front tyre and front pads to that tho).

Service intervals doubled from MY12 onwards so an 8K service on a MY12+ is probably the same as a 4K for a MY11 and earlier?

Ah... Thought that was for the 8k service itself, not the extras on top... FWIW the total on mine was about £380... (Tyre £130 and Brake pads £122).

Damn brake pads started to squeal last night too...
