Hi lambchop, to be honest I'm definitely not ready for that sort of power. I'm getting the repsol blade because it's the bike I've always wanted simply for the way it looks, I don't know enough or have enough experience with bikes to base my desires on anything else. In the past with my cars, I've done my best to try and get exactly what I want which tends to keep me happy with it for 4-5 years and that's the sort of thing in hoping will happen once I've found a fireblade. When I've got one I will probably try and tame it a little and increase it gradually over time. As I did with the gsxr, by the time I sold it, it was full power (about 100bhp) which was enough for me right now to be honest. I'm sure I'll be fine if I continue to give the respect that motorbikes deserve. Fingers crossed eh.

You'll be fine, they only go as fast as you make'm. Take it easy and keep it smooth, if I can ride one (in a fashion) anyone can :D

welcome sure you will be fine, but take it easy for the first few weeks. Blades are so easy to ride but keep that right wrist under control !

Yeah definitely come under the petrol head label, I'm surprised it's took me so long to get into bikes to be honest.

    Welcome mate.

As far as litre sports bikes go, the blade is probably one of the easiest bikes to ride & own.

    You'll love it!

Thanks a lot for the welcome Bloy182, and hopefully I'll have one really soon, I could do with the saddle time before a (loosely) planned trip to nurburgring in June.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Rhyl? Spent many a happy week or two there in my youth and not too far from me either. Good times :D Hope you find what you're looking for but even if don't you'll not be disappointed. Fantastic machine. As others have said just take your time and build your confidence up gradually. Most of all ride safe and enjoy. Perhaps I'll see you around?

Thank you both for the warm welcomes.

@Flathead: north which ain't to far, I have a biker workmate who lives in Wrexham which is a bit closer to you, and we spend most of our ride time somewhere between Llangollen and Barmouth. Do you ever get out anywhere around that sort of area?

    Thanks a lot madmac,
I'm sure I'll have one soon enough, I've just been trying to beat my salesman father in law down on an 11 plate he's got in stock, I can get it for £7500 but I'm really looking at spending closer to the £6000 mark on a slightly older bike. Finns in the for sale section would've been perfect but unfortunately it's just gone. The search continues.

    Welcome mate.

Ive been riding for 35 years now, and if i can give you one piece of advice... Get Keith Codes dvd "twist of the wrist 2".

Watch it, ignore the cheesy bits and get out there and practise what he says !
After years of riding it still improved me a lot and i was recommended it by some crazy irish road racing boys and they said it advanced them 3 seasons ahead of where they would have been.
