Mate that sucks balls. I have road angel tracker on my bike a long with datatag and my garage is like fort knox however if somebody wants your bike they will take it but at least I make their life as difficult as possible in the process.

As Cliff said two things thieves hate noise and time so make sure you cost them plenty of both. If something keeps them tied up long enough to catch them in the process then you can enjoy making them bleed. I don't really care what the law says on this if I catch some scum trying to lift my bike I will put them in the f*&k**g hurt locker.

Thanks for all the commiserations guys... reported to the police and insurance, we'll see what they come back with... I imagine the police will do f*ck all. There is CCTV coverage of the garage but tbh if they're prepared enough to get a van then they'll have covered plates/faces/etc anyway.

Ah well. Just hope the insurance pays out and my renewal isn't too crippling. At least I get to go shopping again :)

    Really gutted for you mate.
I know I would be physically sick if someone stole any of our bikes, and it is something that worries me too.

That iPhone idea sounds brilliant. I can't see why that wouldn't work a treat unless someone else can think of any flaws?

You can buy a proper stand alone GPS tracking device for around £20 from eBay

iPhone tracker works but police won't accept that it's accurate enough.
Short story but iphone got nicked and went to police with tracker info indicating where it was. They said they couldn't use it and would come out in 48 hours or so to get a statement.
Told them the battery would be dead by then but they wouldnt listen.
Anyway followed the tracker myself and got iphone back. You want something done then you gotta do it yourself.
Somebody wants my stuff they had better really really want my stuff.

A mate of mine has bought a Galaxy S3 and set it up with a bunch of location/etc apps and wedged it under the seat.. Probably cheaper than the iPhone.

    Will get details from him...

Stratford, London. Yeah - I know... surrounded by pikey scum. If only I could winch the bike up to the flat and keep it there :)

I know someone who did that too, except it was his daughters iphone that was nicked at a music festival.

Hate to read this - just the one word of warning before you replace the bike, there was the post about somebody who had a large theft claim and replaced stolen blade with a new blade , at renewal time with zero NCB and significant theft claim his premium has gone through the roof - think nearly £3k TPF&T
