Not on the bike, you understand. We don't really buy these things for that. I've just got a new car and it's the first time I've had a trip computer with the average mpg display. I have to say that it's totally changed my driving style. Up to this point I've always been, shall we say, a very "enthusiastic" driver In my previous car I expect that I was getting low-to-mid 20s on the mpg. Since switching to this new car and driving carefully I've been getting approximately 38mpg. I always figured that, meh....so what. So it's a few extra pence. That was until I did my sums last night and figured out that my 30 mile / day round trip commute to work would be roughly £600 / year cheaper at 38mpg than it would at 25mpg. So I'm off outside to stick duct tape over all the panel gaps, overinflate the tyres and install an egg under the accelerator pedal
I get 30-40MPG in my 4X4. under 30 when towing or moving heavy loads when camping etc.... Wifes S max gets 40+ but not when driving around town as she is not that smooth driving. Kit car gets me between 20-32MPG around town and Mway. thats a 2006 new Zetec 2ltr But running thursty Twin 45's. I can get as low as 8MPG on track-days in the tiger So as you can gather I'm not fuissed on getting mega MPG as I don't do the miles. and half of my driving is for enjoyment. Work's only 2 miles away so I can drive, cycle or walk
I've noticed that if I just keep at a steady speed I can do the 13 miles between Peterlee and Teesside without touching the brake at all. All these years.........all that money I've just been pissing up the wall.......I...........I.........
I used to a lot, but since finding out my hips are falling apart not so much but walking more as it's better for my legs
I only live 2 miles from my work and have only walked twice and cycled 3 times... I should cycle more really to get some fitness in..
I walk more as the last time I cycled after my last op it took me 6 weeks to get over the pain. So walking is better for me but often I need work for one thing or another
What did you go for in the end then ? I get around 60mpg from my vrs on a decent run, 65 if im driving like a grandad
wished i got even close to some of those numbers, we get about 23/24 around town going by what the car tells us and thats driving like an oap my last 325i gave 19mpg think i need another car lol
Affectionately known as the middleagemobile amongst my mates. They seem oblivious to the Fireblade in the garage
My Scoob (very modded) rarely makes 200 mile to fuel light coming on, refill usually 50 litres but god it makes me smile. So I decided a bike would be better to ease the Shell stations getting to know me better than the missus and it certainly helps and still maintains the smile factor. I try cycle at least 1 day a week on MTB for my 20 mile round trip to work and when I pluck up the courage to do it I really enjoy doing it, but it's really hard leaving all those horses at home. Must admit really love the blade (wish I done it much earlier) but the car will have to go soon I think (starts crying and leaves the room.............)
