Honda shims are expensive and built up a collection of around 140 shims over the years. These 7.5 mm diameter shims are the same with all the Japanese manufacturers with Kawasakis going up to 3.20mm. Hondas range is from 1.20- 2.80mm
I keep trying to download this onto my IPad Dan, it gets so far and then just closes down, I'll have to wait till I get the lap top out I guess? Don't go all technical on me if you reply, you'll only get a vacant stare and tumble weed.
Its not that difficult to check the clearances. Slow and steady is the best way i reckon. I had to remove the radiator to get the front section of airbox out to allow removal of the valve cover. I also changed the plugs at the same time while it was in bits. See piccies. Its nearly back together now.
You can't down load to an iPad mate . No desktop or download folder to save it to. download to your computer then put it in iTunes and have it in Ibooks as a PDF on the iPad
valve service No i did the service in my nice warm garage. Just finished today. The bikes now back together and started on the button. I'm no expert, some people on the forum would run rings round me when it comes to these things. It takes me ages but i clean and check everything as i go along. Beats paying the dealer and having some young kid snapping fairing panels. No one works on my bike except me. Tell you what i hate doing----Bloody coolant change, messy horrible job, but its done now so no worries. Cheers chaps.
Cheers. I was thinking today how different the engineering is to the Harley XR1200X i had before. When you look at the ammount of equipment packaged into a tiny space, you really can see the money in it. The Harley was from the other side of the street, everything manually adjustable and built like a tank! Good fun though, and it never missed a beat.
Looking good mate !!! Not done them on the Blade yet but I remember when I did them on my ZX6R and I had to remove the raditor too to gain access.
Cheers. cant believe how much coolant is in the sytem, most of it ends up on the floor! Bring back air cooled RD400's i say.
Ha .. yup .............. I could pull mine apart in no time ... swap pistons or rings or both and be out for a ride same day
Much respect to all you people who work on your bikes, frankly it scares the crap out of me. The most I've managed is to put the gear indicator on mine, thank god for the pics some kind soul posted! Helped me immensely. Now I'm trying to pluck up courage to fit the Pipercross, so if anyone has any pics they can help me out with I'd be grateful. As for the Quickshifter I got from Arthur, anyone in Kent area suggest best place to get it fitted?
If you've got the instructions for fitting it, I'll give you a hand if you can ride down to my place near Rye. Can test it later on some great roads?
