My local dealer is the only reason I haven't got one. When I was 21 I bought a year old R1150GSA (privately) popped to my local dealer to book it in for a service and a look round and a salesman came upto me and said " can I help? I don't think we'll have the sort of thing you are looking for". Then proceeded to tell me it wasn't a youth club.all before I could say a word to the prick. Have a go on it, if you like it buy it!
Your money, your choice ! I have friends that owned them and I have ridden both bikes a few times, definitely not a Honda and you do have to cane it to get the best out of it. BTW both guys have sold theirs now due to the well known quality / reliability issues, one bought an R1 and the other is on a Tuono. Personally I'm going to stick with Honda, it hasn't gone bang, rusted or refused to move yet !
If I was on that same street, I'd seriously consider spunking the extra 3 grand on the one Arthurbikemad posted the other day. http://1000rr.co.uk/bikes-sale/17521.htm#post271608 Well, may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb Nick Good luck what ever you decide
If you want more grunt Nick stick a wiseco 76-78mm piston kit in that will make it more than a match for the Beemer
Well its dead easy really El Nick...................... have you seen the BMW forum ?? Enough said !! (ps im joking).......... it would be the bike id move to if changing...........
Wouldn't be a swap Id do mate, but if your asking then your mind is wandering lol your part ex may be poo too, but hell your only here once trust your extincts...but take a new blade for a test ride too. They are so different to your model.
Mm.. I do hate a Motorad salesman... My Honda bloke is a cracking person. Couldn't do enough for me. He's about 20 miles away. The BM bloke is 100 metres down the road. He's a **&^. He just wasn't interested... And I was paying cash! H
I wouldn't do it! I'm not biased towards Honda or the blade but, I have been chasing the right bike for the last couple of year and wasted a fair bit of money! If the truth be known I'm a Kawasaki man and love the Zx10 and that's the bike I would have before a BMW ( I have a BMW car and it's fantastic) if I was racing. But I'm not racing, I ride on the road and to date the blade in my humble opinion is the best bike for that. All bikes are great ! Enjoy no matter what!
I think this looks a good option http://1000rr.co.uk/bikes-sale/17420.htm My mate has a beemer.......awesome machine.
If that is a mk1 bike which I think it is then it really lacks mid range shove which is what you will miss. It has huge power in the top 2000 revs bit on reality who rides in that rev range on a litre bike on the road? Me I would much prefer the higher torque the blade has over the BMW . Se out a mk2 BMW for not much more as a better step up. I have done a 6th gear roll on , fully loaded with luggage from 50 to 170 and the BMW was maybe 20m Ahead. Fuel wise no change but £90 an hour service costs soon adds up
Wise words indeed Al. Mid-range is where I want my 'Grunt'. So, even though my bonus is burning a hole in my pocket, I'm coming to the conclusion that I'll keep the blade for one more 'season' and carry on saving so's I can buy the 6 cylinder 'blade (I'm dreamin' that) Honda has on the chocks for a 2015 launch. Anyway, it's 0800hrs, Sunday morning and I'm out for a 'rip' with the rest of the gang at 0930. One of the lads, just last week has got himself a 2011 s1000rr so we shall see what we shall see. I'm hoping to 'Have a Nice Day' Nick.
Here you go nick Wiseco Top End Kit 78.00 mm Honda CBR1000RR 2008-2012 | eBay Wiseco Top End Kit 76.00 mm Honda CBR1000RR 2008-2012 | eBay Should add extra horses and a dollop of more mid range grunt you want
I feel your pain Nick having owned an S1KRR myself and I have to say I did love it but at the time it was too much bike for me and I nearly killed myself riding it and if it wasn't for the rider aids it has I would have been dead. That's when i decided that I needed to learn to be a better rider myself first and not make the mistake of allowing the bike to correct all my stupid errors so I sold it. Funny enough about 6 months later I was back on litre bikes again and never looked back since. I would say this they still have issues with corroding sump tanks my best mate has a 61 plate S1KRR and has been through 3 sump tanks in the last 3 years and he rides all year round etc. He still loves his bike though so at the end of the day it depends on what you can live with. I love my SP because it's an amazing piece of machinery and I know that whatever the bike is doing I'm making it do that and if I make a mistake I will get bitten for that mistake and I can learn from it. They do a taylor made exhaust for the BMW so you can have the same system on there again. Personally I nearly bought a S1KRR over the SP but the BMW Dealership wouldn't give me a rough estimate of trade in over the phone even on book value they wanted me to do my own evaluation and I thought well i'm not doing your job for you so I bought an SP.
. Well we (Knighton Road Bike Club. We is on FB!) had an epic ride-out yesterday 3 girls 6 lads, almost 200 miles of fabulous Welsh roads (Barmouth and all over the mountains) but, whilst the air was fekin freeeeezin the pace was a little too 'hot' to be swapping bikes on roads I'm not that familiar with. However, amongst the Gixxers. R1's and s1000rr's my blade showed it's class and acquitted itself brilliantly, so, at least for the present, it's 'a keeper'. Thanks guys, for all your input. Gotta luv this Forum. Live fast, die old. ATB Nick. Sadly, really crappy fone pic's And, on a lighter note....... Maddy, " He said it was this BIG. The lyin' twat!".
Glad your keeping her nick, great bike and lovely colour scheme Bugger will have to look elsewhere for a luggage rack now lol
