The Pirelli's have around 800 mile left in em and with me off to Ireland in 4-5 weeks and doing over 1K miles over there I reckon I'll have to put new rubber on before I go. Thinking of returning to a Sport Touring Tyre for the remainder of my ownership of this Bike as that's all it's used for now as I'm a TD addict for my thrills! With an estimated 4-5K mileage range I'll have probably swapped it out before it needs another set of hoops!
Can't comment on the PR4's but have PR3's on mine covered 6k on them so far and still seem to have plenty of life left in them...
Just got PR4 fitted today obviously can't comment to much but seem every bit as good as the PR3 look a bit sportier and are supposed to last even longer than PR3 ! Will write more on them soon but on the ride back I was impressed with the feel and feedback
As some of you know I've been running PR3's for sometime, quite frankly they are the best all rounder, biased to working in the wet ( which is about usual for this country !! ), I've used them for track days and touring and have recommended them to a few, jimbo,Barney and giv to name a few. Marion is now running PR4's and having a quick blast on her bike I can say they are every bit as good as the 3's and as previously mentioned they look a little less tractor like and hope they last a bit longer, even tho I've eked out nearly 6000 miles out of my previous set,we managed to get them for £237 and a fuel voucher back from Michelin for £25 so a very good tyre at a very good price. I can't recommend them enough
55 yes Rob As above the best all rounder going I had a set of PR3s on the CB1000R and I couldn't fault them, wet, cold, slow, fast and knee down no problem I would only use Metzler K3s before but I'm getting three times the milage and not losing anything! Was seriously pissed with puncture the other day but these things happen and good excuse to try the 4s
As above I'm running PR3 and have done 3000 miles on them and still look as good as new I will definitely will be buying PR4s when eventually my PR3s need changing which I think will not be anytime soon
Want to try these - its only when you (stupidly) put regular tyres on a bike and get shocking mileage that you realise just how good the tyre life is modern sport touring tyres. Andy - where did you find them at that price ? May try them on the R1 as its in need - Blade trundles round on on ex-Haslam school T30's at £50 a tyre!
Don't forget to ask for the leaflet " keep on riding michelin.com" supply your receipt and they will give you £25 petrol voucher
Yes Rob, Michelin! I might have mislead U by mentioning Pirelli's in the opening post. I'm running Pirelli Rosa Corsa's at present and despite they're undoubted superior grip in the dry, they're longevity (2K) and lesser wet weather grip over the Michelin Pilot Road range just doesn't justify it for me now. If U don't 'do' rain and are a fair weather 'Sunday' scratcher with no regard for decent mileage then the Pirelli's still rule.
I guess the deal is at any participating outlet........ ? Yes durrr I did think it was a Corsa..... but I need some new skins fitted and quiet like the feedback with these babies
Dammit, this tyre technology is going too fast for me, only got pr3's fitted today on my other bike, so far have done 11 very tame miles on them, and already they're out of date
Am a proper numpty, actually looked at my new tyres today after a full day out on them, they are PR4's and not 3's as I thought. I like 'em a lot, brilliant feel from them straight off. Even when I did some light off reading courtesy of the crap surface at the Sutton Bank visitor centre car park they were fine. Still not had the opportunity to determine maximum lean angles from them but they definitely give a brilliant sense of grip even though they do feel a bit harder than my previous Dunlops.
