that got you tryin a deal on this maybe luv my blade but the s1000rr brakes and top end left me sitting still racing my mate on his yesterday
Still can't get round the fugly squint looks of that bike. I have no doubt in the performance, but I'd be looking at it with a squint every time
Also have you tried a ZXR10 or a RSV4 instead of that? Or have you been drawn in by the hype of the BM
Talking to a mechanic recently and he says all parts are made in China, and not very well made at that. Wiring like telephone cables, very flimsy, and they still have a problem with corrosion of the sump. Just passing that on mate, I can't confirm if that is the case either way. They still do look bloody lovely though, but the wife test rode one the other week and after jumping back on my blade afterwards said she would have the blade every time.
colin it left me for dead couldnt match it on corners the brembo are well better it isnt better lookin but i want one
Do what I did for £500 then and fit a set of M4 calipers. Add a front piston kit for the forks also and I guarantee you a better bike. I've been on a few bikes lately and I honestly can't find 1 better than the blade all round. If your looking for a bike that makes for a right good laugh, try the RSV4 and tell me I'm wrong, or stick with the blade and lightly mod it to the bike you want.
read the reviews on the rsv4 as well havnt been drawn in at all im just givin my review the blade is good but it hasnt got brembos
colin not trying to put the blade down ive got one mate im a fast rider or so ive been told the bm is quicker leavin me at roundabouts with tcontrol im not paying 500.00 for a bazzaz system
Couldn't ride 1 because of the looks mate. I know it's vain as fook, but OCD is a very bad illness, and something that's been reinforced by being an engineer. If it doesn't look right it isn't right! Have you ridden a RSV4?
To be honest you need to ride them independently to have your own opinion of them. As far as traction control goes, I have no experience of it, or even know if I ride hard enough to experience the benefits. If your serious about changing, make sure you test ride as many bikes as you can.
You and your mate Rab should get on the track day together see what full potential you have in you Blade. I to looked at getting the HP4 but opted for the SP instead, BMW dealer was so far up his own arse you wouldn't believe. "Well mate Jap bike are mass produced where as our BMW HP4s are hand built with quality in mind", "I'll give you 6 1/2 for your not quite old Jap Repsol and make you wait until May for your new bike, OK?" NO!!!!!!! PS This was back in December last year.
for road riding I would take the blade any day, overal performance with a few upgrades is a hell of a lot better than any other bikes. for track days and racing then I must admit my 13 blade can't handle the bmw or the ZX10r on acceleration out of the corner, top speed and the TC.... brakes you can upgrade.... spend 1000£ on a full brake upgrade(brembo M/C and calipers), and the beemer won't even come close to the stopping power
Like Colin, I just could not have a BMW purely on looks alone, plus I like a bike to have as few rider aides as possible. It is your hard earned money Rab, go for it you, I used to change my bikes all the time. The BMW has loads of power and gets good reviews in that regard. If I was going to change it would be the ZX10, although I love the looks of the RSV. I chose the modding route for my RR6 and now have it pretty much perfect for my type of riding. I can actually use the power (168 bhp 83ft torque) because the suspension, brakes, wheels and weight reduction etc provide sublime handling. I think each manufacturer has something different, I personally love Gixers, R1's, ZX10, Ducati, MV's and Aprillias, they have different pros and cons, but each is a great bike in it's own merit.
