Hi everyone . . I have just joined the forum as i was looking to move from my 05 cbr 600rr to a 08 or 09 1000rr I have been riding for 2 years on the 600rr and love it , The only thing i find wrong with the bike is the seat is very hard and my wrists get sore after an 1.5 hrs riding i need a break . I have a few questions . . 1. Is the 1000rr more comfortable than the 600rr on a long ride ? 2.The 600rr does 130 miles to a tank of fuel what does the 1000rr do ? 3. Should i stay with the 600rr for a while longer before i make the step up ? Thank you for any replays . .
The blade isn't bad on fuel but I don't bother looking at the mpg it's more about fun for me, comfort depends on each persons size, age etc etc. IMO there is never a right or wrong time to jump on a blade if you are bored of the 600 then go for it just remember the engine is nearly twice the size and power will reflect that. As long as your sensible you will be fine

Hi marco, I had my 07 600rr for about 3½ years and changed it for a 13 1000RR about 3½ days ago so I’ll have a go at your questions ;-) No…… did around 300 miles today (just trying to get used to it) and it’s no more comfortable that the 600…… but then again it’s not really any more uncomfortable…….. if you were ok with the 600 then you’ll be fine. About the same on an easy run……. A bit less if more spirited! Depends what you want from a bike…….. up until the last 50 miles of today’s run I felt I would always be quicker on my 600…….. but then I was very used to that and it was very forgiving and non-threatening. To begin with I was finding the 1000 to be a bit overwhelming….. truth be told it was like my first days on the 600 and that was my 1st ever bike…. New bike... didn't want to have an expensive incident and a big power jump. I was to used to just pinning the throttle on the 600 at any point and not worrying too much about it but the extra torque on the 1000 takes a bit of retraining the brain. I was also finding it to be a bit flighty and less sure footed that the 600 but was thinking that this may have also been partly down to the exhaust I’d fitted maybe changing the weight distribution (my right heel is also hitting of the exhaust when I’m on my toes…. new rear sets required I think). Anyway, despite the above, I was still enjoying the ride but on the last section of the day I gave it a proper blast and the thing just came to life…….. everything felt smoother and so planted…. huge grin factor…… By the time I got home I’d fallen in love with it but the only problem is if you are having that much fun you riding at speeds that would be very much frowned upon….. on the 600 if you feel like to are going fast then you are …… on the 1000 you are going that fast without feeling it so when you are feeling it then you are going way too fast for the law……. Thankfully all my riding today was carried out on a friend’s 5,000 acre estate with closed roads

I went from a 2005 CBR600RR to a 2011 NRC Blade. TBH i've never looked back as the blade is amazing, i find it more comfortable than the 600RR, The power as you would expect is like night and day, The fuel usage is about the same or there abouts, The blade uses a more oil than the 600RR ( A common thing with 08 blabes onwards), Carrying a pillion is much easier in my opinion due to the fact of having more power. I havent looked back really, i just wish i kept my 600RR as a track toy as it was awesome on track, but saying that so is my blade If you do go for the swap get the HRC one......As these are much faster lol and you don't see so many of them, unlike the Respsol blades. I swapped from a ZX6R to an rr5 Blade about 18 months ago, so in relation to that:- 1. Is the 1000rr more comfortable than the 600rr on a long ride ? I found the position the same for a tall person, a little achey until you get used to it, but many of us managed a +1500 mile Scotland tour last year over 4 days last year with no issues. 2.The 600rr does 130 miles to a tank of fuel what does the 1000rr do ? The Ninja did 180 miles, although it had a big tank. Some people have reported 130 miles per tank on the Blade, but i'm pushing my luck if I do 120. 3. Should i stay with the 600rr for a while longer before i make the step up ? We're probably a little biased, but also know what it's like to step up. I toyed with the idea for over a year before actually taking the plunge purely because I was nervous not knowing what to expect from a 1000. Turned out that it's only like riding a rocket ship when you want it to and that most of the time you can just bimble around as normal, but with a hell of a lot more power in reserve. I also found that changing up renewed my grin factor. When i rode my first 600 i remember thinking "Holy ****!" and came back with a massive smile. When i jumped up to the Blade i got exactly the same feeling of screaming in my helmet.
Do it Marco, you wont regret it. I have not had a 600, but did go from a GSXR 750 to a GSXR1000. I don't think the RR9 is much bigger than the cbr 600 , as far as fuel consumption is concerned, I wouldn't worry too much about that 120/140 mile range seems to be about average, according to my fuel display, I seem to average at about 51 mpg. Performance is down to you, you can ride the 1000 as a 600, but you have a lot more on 'tap' if you want to unleash it You know you want to change so just do it, and enjoy it.
Simple answer OP. Can you ride a bike? Can you control your right hand? Answer yes to both and you can ride a Blade. Forget any scaremongering mate, the bike will only go as fast or slow as you ride it. As far as wrist ache etc. its all down to personal style, slight adjustments on the levers etc can make a huge difference, just as the shape/size of the rider can. As can being tense on the bike, a lot of riders end up being spooky on big bikes and don't relax, always covering levers with outstretched fingers, biggest cause of wrist ache IMO. The current Blade is not a great fit for basketball player sized people so bear that in mind. Mileage, again depends on how you ride it, ie ride it like your buzz box 600 and it will glug in the same fashion, but mine regularly goes north of 150, see reserve light on around 140ish in day to day commuting.

I'd recommend going for the 1000 as I have just done the same step after two years on a 600. I don't really know what I was expecting but I'm getting on with it really well. At the moment I'm not going any faster than on the 600 but the potential is there for my progressive improvement. Andy B
I got a 2009 repsol for £5600 and 7,800 miles on it, it was very near mint, I just needed to fix a oil leak which was easy enough so it's now a really good bike. I've just spent a couple of hours removing the rear footrests and cleaning the callipers, I just need to get a seat cowl and it's just as I want it. I'm well happy with it. Andy B
The search/wait is horrible isn't it! I only got mine two weeks ago so still in the honey moon period, I might nip down and just look at it right now actually, lol. Here it is when I bought it, but it's now a lot cleaner.
You are one lucky man !! I will have to take a trip to the uk as the 08 0n blades are very hard to get in Ireland . My 600 will be gone in the morning so i will have nothing
