Hi, Got myself the genuine honda carbon fibre rear hugger which has previously been fitted to a 2010 bike. I am having difficulty fitting it to my 2013 blade, as the rear shock seem to be longer than then pre-2012 bikes. Has any tried this and have any advise? Thanks, and Happy Easter
No it will not clear the new balance free Showa shock fitted to the newer models. I had the same problem when I fitted a 2012 shock to my 2009 model, I had to buy a new hugger.
You can get them to fit but you will need to cut a shaped hole in the hugger to allow the bottom of the reservoir to clear the hugger. I did my Repsol hugger and to be honest you can't see it unless you get down and look really closely. Depends if you are happy to dremmel you hugger!!
How did you get it to fit? I can't dremel... It's a shame because I don't think any of the aftermarket hugger looks as good I am flogging it if anyone is interested (or offer to dremel it for me, pretty please?)
It fits matey because I bought the right one for my model! You're trying to fit a 2010 Hugger to a 2013 Blade which as already stated won't fit without some Butchering with a dremel. 2008 - 2011 are one model as far as Huggers go. MY12+ onwards is another model U have two options. Butcher your existing Hugger or sell it and buy one made for a 2013, simpleeess!
Oh bummer! I don't seem to be able to find the genuine Honda carbon for the 2012-2014 blade anywhere, even new ones, so I assumed (wrongly) that it's the same from 2008 onwards
If the carbon hugger is the same shape as the plastic one then it does fit, My mate has a 2008/11 Honda hugger on his 13 with no issues.
I have / had a 2008 carbon hugger on my blade, purchased a 2012 rear shock and then purchased a 2012 rear hugger to fit correctly.
