Just had The AA renewal letter through the post to renew my joint cover at £129, this is on 2 drivers including roadside relay regardless of vehicle so covers me on the bike too.

However, it's £119 to sign up with the AA for the same policy online as a new customer.
I also tried Green Flag who want £140 to cover just 2 cars (no option to cover the drivers for any vehicle).
RAC also want £119, mention bikes, but can check.

Are there any alternatives out there?

I use AutoAid http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk . It's like insurance rather than breakdown cover as such. But basically it costs £39 a year for cover for all my vehicles (including the bike) and in the event of a breakdown you call them - they send out a local recovery firm, you pay them and then claim the money back from AutoAid. Thankfully I've only ever used them once when the chain on my old bike snapped (scary!), they recovered me to my local garage almost 30 miles away and I had the money back within 2 weeks. Great cover and very cheap but I understand why some people are put off by the "claim back" approach. It's recommended by Martin Lewis (moneysavingexpert.com) and I've used them for about 6 years and never had a problem.

i have rac cover for 3 members in any vehicle including bikes, for £107.00 including recovery.
i already had cover for 2 people but needed to add my daughter with her car.
i rang them up for this price as i couldn't find the cover i needed on their online screen.
As mentioned the cash back sites can work as long as you don't mind waiting a couple of months for the cash back.

A lot of bank accounts give breakdown cover as part of a package, you might find your already covered, I'm with Lloyds and get AA cover

Quidco, of course, why didn't I think of that earlier.
Just checked and they have £35 cashback for AA Policies between £101 and £150.99, so that's £84 then. Do you take beer tokens :D

Really good idea, but my missus won't like that idea and I can see an argument brewing if she were to break down and have to follow up.

Britannia Rescue, always had a fast response and good service at a lower price than the big 2. If you are a member of about 1 zillion associated organisations you get a further discount on the premium, or if you are a LV customer. They own it.

I do the Quidco route every year, one year RAC the next the AA. If they both stopped offering via Quidco I would probably do Green Flag.

Yeah - like I said some people are put off by it and fair enough, I can see why. But it's dirt cheap for the cover you get and as long as you don't break down all the time - there's not much hassle. It's more of an insurance policy, should anything go wrong....
