Any tips for me from someone who has recently learnt how to do it? Dying to give it a go but really don't want to crash. I have had the front lift a few times when gunning it, but scared if I give it too much I'll lose it. Can anyone tell me exactly how best to do it, at what revs etc? Is it better to power wheelie first before trying the clutch method? That scares me even more haha. Any tips appreciated!
Not sure if learning without crashing is always possible, get an old bandit or something and abuse that first, just put a huge sproket on it
Go to a wheelie school let them teach you and use their bikes with anti wheelie wands etc to keep you out of trouble
learn2wheelie.co.uk looks like a good place to start, £200 for a whole day wheelying... Think its the place that the Baron went to I might get on this before the holidays
Something I always wanted to do as well. Not so worried about getting the wheel up, more about bringing it back down safely.
You control your height using the rear brake, the blade is good in that it can wheelie off the throttle and you don't have to dump the clutch
I have only ever wheelies by mistake. Not that bothered about doing them really. Despite the peer pressure as you ride past all the pubs on the Isle of Man.
I always cover the rear, shutting the the throttle at 10/11 0'clock and rising just wont cut it ..just that little tap on the rear will bring it straight down..
I personally don't use the clutch, throttle only. Sit back in the seat, power on and it should lift in first and second without too much effort. I've recently gone up a tooth on the rear sprocket, slight hump or bump in a private road and it will even come up in 6th, although at 140ish that's a bit bum cheek clenching for me!
I find using the clutch better I clutch mine up in 3rd it gives me longer wheelies and less responsive while your up . I always found by lifting it up on the throttle it lifts at peak power but then doesn't leave much revs to play with to maintain your distance . I can wheelie easily over a mile in 3rd
Hi , I gave the "trick" ago on Sunday and had the front wheel up between 1 and 2 on my first go, caught be by surprise even though I was trying to do it but good god it was a giggle.
