Hi, Need advice. I've got a 09 blade fitted with a Yoshi Carbon R77 exhaust. MOT due in a couple of weeks so had some down time and decided to put db killer in. Previous owner fitted exhaust and just pushed it in for the Mot. Thought this would take two minutes how wrong am I. 1st problem when looking at exhaust realised the rubber grommet needs to come out allen bolt goes in holding db killer in. NO hole on the inside! After several attempts hole just needs to be pushed through and with pliers managed to remove (hope this is right) Okay nearly there - place db killer in and aline the holes ARRRRRRRRRRRH Problem 2 How far does this to go in close but not close enough. So rather than force it to much decided this would be easier if I take Can off bike and see how close I am and also aid the allen bolt fitment. (Seen on previous threads how difficult this is) Problem 3 Getting the silencer off! took the two springs off top and bottom removed allen bolt exhaust bracket to rear sets surely just pulls off... Walked away - gave up smoking in October could really have one now. Any advice or am I doing something wrong. No wonder previous owner only ever pushed it in what a nightmare........ Is this just a sh*t job or is it me!!!!
I wouldn't bother, my old akra passed without the db insert in no problem my racefit might be a different story
As I remember I had to drill out the hole for the baffle and also file an edge off the round bit of the baffle so it would sit in correct.
Got the hole so that's fine. Do you file edge of the black collar so goes in a little further. Jesus this is a bad design.....
Its a few years since dude so don't attack it until further advice by the boys on here. .I had to file mine on the bottom edge so it fitted but was not seen once insitu .i thought It was just mine and didn't consider others may have the problem .the other thing I managed to do twice was lose the little bolt down the exhaust but this rattled out by shaking the damn thing upside down.
From memory I was told that it was just a ram baffle that didn't need to be fixed. More difficult to get back out. That was at a Honda dealership. Never had mine in, and TBH never even looked at it in any great detail.
Cheers for the advice pulled collar off and checked pipe went in not a problem so must be the collar! Got the angle grinder with a flap disc and took the surface off. HEY PRESTO all lined up! Now got to put screw in, do that tomorrow don't want to push my luck!
