Anybody bought a pair of those Keller Jeans for sale on eBay, they come in a variety of styles and colours and with Kevlar lining in the appropriate places and even padding and pockets unlike my pricey draggin jeans. They seem to be for sale from a variety of sources and I wondered if anyone had bought any and might be able to recommend them. All the other branded ones seem so bloody pricey considering... These are only 30 sheets plus postage..
Ive just checked them out and id say for a bit of gentle riding about in the summer they are gonna be better than normal jeans. Kevlar is kevlar, and does its job, the rest of the denim may not be as heavy as draggin jeans etc but for that price, better than no protection plus they have ce armour ! I'm tempted to give a whirl myself...
There was a bit of a write up in this week's MCN about a crackdown on Kevlar Jeans and how not to risk wearing them just incase as you get what you pay for £200 jeans are R&D to comply with standards where as cheap ones aren't! I've been wearing £60 jeans for the last couple of year for spring/summer use but never on a thrash only for pottering about as I don't trust any jeans full stop!
I'd say so. You can't even by a decent set of normal Jeans for £30 so makes you think these are worth a punt on ya own skin? Aldi sell Biker Boots for £30 also, same applies. If your limbs and skin are only worth £30 then crack on my son........
Actually Son, Until you've tried or had to ride to a meeting on a bike .. or sat in traffic in Marseilles wearing leathers .. you'd know how invaluable Kevlars are even with their extra slight amount of protection. I asked for an opinion based on someone who might have tried them .. not someone who was preaching .. so .. it wasn't constructive at all .. Had my thread been entitled "do you think I should risk my own hide if I want to .." .. I'd have expected your answer ..
I personally wouldn't take the risk on anything that is not a well known make, not for the street cred but for the fact that they are more likely to have been tried tested and more research gone into the design etc. For 30 quid I'm sure they must have cut corners somewhere wether that be material or testing etc. I think this is what sinewave may have been trying to say just in sinewave way
When I toured France, Andorra and Spain it hit 35degrees plus. Ok I had to open my jacket a little to get air into my top but never had issues with my legs getting overheated just my body. I'm more than happy with leathers but I know everyone is different. when i did get biking jeans I went for a make recommended by others and will do this myself to make sure I have something I know will protect me
Not had any experiance on these mate, so can't comment. Did recently buy my lad a pair of Red Route from J&S. He has textile's, but trying to do as much as possible to make sure he wears something so these seemed a good option. I like the Red Route that much I'm thinking of buying myself a pair for cruising on the Monster.
I wear them all the time, I don't like leather, its expensive, restrictive and doesn't see to last me long before the stitching and stuff comes apart, I know Jeans arent the best thing, but I suppose they are better than wearing normal jeans, the crux of the matter is because they have kevlar in them they will be able to heat up whilst sliding down the road without burning your leg. Obviously leather is king but like I said I hate the restrictive feel of leather I just don't enjoy riding a bike with leather on.
if im honest - it sounds like you have bought either cheap gear thats falling apart quickly or cheap ill fitting gear that is restrictive and falling apart quickly.... my leathers are so comfy on the bike i'd wear nothing else, and never had an issue with stuff falling apart inc wearing for a few years inc td's, crashes, touring and general ride outs. so far had dianese, wolf and berick so hardly top of the range, and had plenty of use (dave sill lusing my wolf's) and never come apart. Crashed in 2 /3 sets! lol
I wouldn't its cheap, but your probably right in one respect that its cheaper than what most people would buy, I have had expensive repsol leathers before and seperate leathers, but I really just don't like wearing them, but that's just me, I wear army boots and kevlar jeans and a leather jacket, the leather jacket with a leather waist coat, I just cant stand leather jeans or one piece suits but that's just me. I am also on my motorcycle all the time, I rarely drive at all. Its not an image thing either.
I have red route Kevlar jeans very comfortable and great for popping to the shops etc on sunny days, still would wear my leathers for any real riding but would rather wear them than just jeans Plus they have armour in the knees etc for added protection
each to their own mate. my 1 piece was £300 reduced at the show so hardly breaking the bank, and should the worst happen then i'd rather have my gear on than yours imo. i honestly find it more comfy than jeans and normal boots, gives better protection against weather and certainly better protection on impact / slides. and def not an image thing either... i remember being 21 and buying my 1st 2 piece, hated it, but experience now tells me it wasn’t right fit and they do give a lot.... also what you get used to. i find it weird riding without a back protector now as i do on track all the time.... me being on a bike all the time would never mean i reduce the gear i wear, as i've seen some pretty nasty accidents and each time think having full leathers & boots have saved some serious injuries being even worse / if not the worst from occurring... but like i say, each to their own and certainly not preaching.
I've got Kevlar jeans , RST textiles and RST 2 piece leathers (white perforated tractec) along with TCX air race boots in white again and by far the leathers and the boots are by far the coolest and most comfortable to wear when it's hot days even tho I look like a power ranger for Daz
It would be the stitching that would worry me I think mate. Will it hold together when sliding along the road? I'm a big fan of lighter, less restrictive gear, but would probably buy a brand that I know has had good reviews etc.
