I've just resprayed my stocker exhaust as the original paint job is abysmal and took out for a run after fitting leaving the servo cable unplugged. Sounds meaty now from idle, but after a trip down the road, when parking up and on idle the temp went up to 102c. I'm sure the blade normally idles around 92c. Is that right? Is 102c a no no? What does the servo/flap do? I'm guessing for back pressure and reducing noise. Would disconnecting cause the engine to heat up more? Or have I buggered up the O2 sensor on re-installation? Many thanks in advance, Dec
Your temp seems quite normal to me, it takes about 8 mins to go from cold to 103/fan on on my 09 fireblade when stationary.
Cheers It's the 08 Blade forgot to say. So there any reason why I should reconnect the servo/exhaust flap that kicks in at 4k rpm? Does it give you better mid-range or something?
If you disconnect the servo wiring you will have an error on the dash, it will also go in to limp home mode with reduced power. You need a servo bypass unit if you want to disconnect it and remove it. Most just disconnect the cables but make sure the servo is in the open position first.
