Happy to help, the little red unit in the subframe is the control unit for the HM Quickshifter. Most people mount them in the middle fairing or under the seat but with the holes in the subframe on the SP it was an ideal place and the setup button can be accessed from behind, Result
have you got a picture from the side so I can see how much room the is between the abs box and the mudguard... its been a while since iv seen my pals bike....
So it does sorry fella first night shift of a 4 week trip in norway I wasnt thinking ha ha cheers mate... not a lot of room at all.
Had a spare hour or two Safto so I thought I'd 'Butcher' my Hugger about a bit being as it's already cracked! Decided to drill 2 32mm holes in the Hugger with a Holesaw to allow the ABS Nappies extremities to protrude through them on full compression. Looks OK I spose and will stop any further cracking. Before and after shots.
Not a bad effort Maybe with a bit of fettling it could look OEM - maybe some thin white trim to tidy up the edges of the holes?
I'd have prefered two Oval holes but doing that symmetrically on both sides would be very difficult. I've said it before HONDA could easily make a Hugger for the ABS as there is acres of room underneath it for them to mould two scallops in to the current design which would allow clearance from above and below, they just can't be arsed, which we should expect as they have shown no interest in fixing the ABS issues. TBH, I'm not that bothered about everything being spot on bodywork wise especially since the bikes gained quite a bit of Road Rash from chippings etc. It's there to be ridden and it's worth what's it's worth come P/X time. Having a Track Bike doesn't help your general take on bodywork condition either!
Yeah - you'd have thought Honda would have sorted an ABS hugger by now Were those marks on yours caused by carrying pillion or soft suspension - or just normal riding?
The Bikes never carried a Pillion that's just normal riding although I do hover around the 15.5 - 16st weight range.
Thanks for that mate appreciate it... nice effort, im taking the misses to the TT next month on the back so ill wait till I get back to fit mine.... You would think honda would make them for the abs models, they woukd make a packet for those wanting those honda racing extra's....I mite not have the problem of mine cracking I only weight in at 13 stone ha ha....
Do I have to replace the bolts for the new hugger ? The ones at the back sit proud while the one that holds the chain guard and hugger mount is now short ??
I got it on ebay. . no bolts but I got the bracket Balls Does anybody know we're I can buy the bolts by them self ? The guy I bought them of said his OE bolts fit and no bolts came with the hugger
Is ok on my SP with the ABS but also my 13 plate Repsol was ok too, although it has touched. However no good if you taking a pillion on your bike unless you crack the spring up a bit on the rear.
No, not jumping a bridge but on the B4364 Ludlow/Bridgenorth road just past 'The Three Horseshoes' pub where there's a sudden, short, deep dip in the road. All I can say is I broke both the front lugs on a brand-new CF hugger (£277.00!) when I 'hit' it and that was with the spring wound up 3 notches. No pillion either. Not going particularly quickly and I went back to have a look and the road surface bears dozens of gouges where other vehicles have 'bottomed out' too. Funny thing is; it's hardly noticeable on the approach. Am now in the process of fabricating brackets that will move the hugger waaaay back down along the swinging arm away from the ABS cover 'cos I duz like having one on the bike. Nick.
