Was a good rant though Trev ;)
Loads of people feel the same mate, but this thread should be in "the lounge" not general fireblade discussion?

Disgusting. I would be storming back to school if my kids brought this trash home. I'm no prude but schools have seriously screwed up with sex education. When i was a school kid i didn't know or know of any kids that were parents. Everywhere you look now there's kids having or got kids. Easy get out of work clause created by spineless govt & do-gooders, along side widespread lack of morals & pride & respect. :(

I have left it a few days before responding to this thread in order that I could see what the general reaction was going to be.

My opinion is that children need to know about alternative lifestyles, but primary school is a too young. I think once kids get to say 11/12 they need to aware of alternative life styles.

I realised I was gay when I was 15. I didn't have the guts to tell my parents, my dad had a typical view at the time that being a poof was something to be ashamed and no son of his was going to be gay, in fact I can still remember him saying he would rather his 'son be a murderer than gay'

So began many years of isolation and secrecy, I lived a lie for over 25 years, even today my parents never knew I was gay.

If todays generation of kids, can grow up less homophobic and less hateful, then I am all for this type of 'learning', as one day perhaps when they are parents they hopefully will be able to treat their son/daughter with love and support when they are told 'Im gay'

I so much wish I could 'turn the clock back' and live my life again make different decisions etc.

I appreciate that I may have touched on a sensitive subject but felt as though I should put over my view.

I'd agree. I think that kids need to be educated about all facets of sexuality, not just heterosexuality, but as you've said I think that primary school is too young for kids to be learning about any kind of sexuality. God knows childhood is short enough these days.

I have not replied as I know this is a difficult subject for some. Not on here just in general.

My kids are 9 (yesterday) and almost 12. they know about men who like men and girls who like girls. men who like to dress as women and so on. I have gay mates both men and women and happy to. and when my kids ask about this I am more than happy to tell them why some people like the same sex and it's never been a issue.

but from the looks of the books it seems something that you may show a 4-6 yo. Now if their mummy or daddy like with the same sex person they will understand or just live and get on with it.

I feel the government/local council feel they need to highlight it but it makes it more a BIG issue

And Matt So do I but they don't love me much ;)

I know I was a bit strong in my earlier post but it's just too much! I'm not Homophobic, Racist or a Bigot at all but we're not in the 70's or 80's so there is no need to make anyone aware of sexual preferences or race for that matter! it's is only making an issue where there isn't one! It doesn't matter what your sexuality is or the colour of your skin you have! A lot of the time the hang ups are the with the people who are gay, of a different race or religion as if to make some sort of point! And I feel that it not so much the differences between us all but it's the petty excuses of being offensive and changing things to suit one party over an other! And if your not happy about it your homophobic, racist or a bigot! Where is it all gonna end?

If you turn back the clock..what would you do/change? out of interest?

I've never known "gays" dress up in letterbox black things and shouting at the rooftops to change the laws of the church or country, or strap bombs to kids...no...that's religion for you. And not just the fanatics... halal this, kosher that... for Fu/cks sake. If there is a God, surely it's just the one, not some dude who writes shite like a sodding fairy tale. No wonder the churches are full of old dudes (it's their insurance policy to get into St Peters gates after renouncing their sins after a lifetime of debauchery) or fanatics using mats, not eating cows, praying to the sun. Religion was created to control the masses... and rape/pillage/torture/bomb/stone those who are disbelievers. WTF!

I like birds with big pappies and a lovely landin' strip, Giv likes a nice redhead. And that's choice and preference for you... same as being gay.

Wether your straight or gay, it's all about loving each other, religion is about hating each other, and causes wars and poverty. Go figure.

Reading through this thread made some interesting reading and perhaps some food for thought. Here's my take on things - I have my views and I don't particularly care if they offend or if they don't I was brought up to respect my elders and if I was ever bullied to smash the bully hard enough that they never came back again. These are the same principles I will pass on to my children when I have them one day. Religion doesn't really matter two hoots to me the way I see it if there is a heaven fantastic if not what will I care I'll be dead so my troubles are over. If my country's flag offends people well that's just tough s**t too because it won't stop me from flying it with pride in the memory of my Grandad who fought in every major campaign from Dunkirk to D-Day and beyond during WW2 what his friends fought and died for was our freedom from tyranny and oppression and I'll be damned if I'm going to be told what is and isn't offensive. Don't like what I have to say then don't read it simple as that. Because you might not agree with my opinion does not make it wrong everybody is different.

I remember a slogan that Charlie Sheen had on his lid in Platoon and I want it written on my tombstone "When I die bury me upside down so the world can kiss my ass" My point is this me this is who I am and the World can either accept it and move on or it can kiss my ass I don't particularly care which.

My point is who really gives a s**t about being politically correct? I couldn't give a rats ass about what people think I have to say about things if they agree with me fine if they don't that's their choice. If you want to be gay then be gay if that is what floats your boat good luck to you if you don't then fine it's your choice that's the whole point about living in a democracy not a dictatorship you have the freedom of choice and if your choice offends well f**k em that's their problem they'll just have to swallow..

At least you understand that freedom, both of speech and action, applies to EVERYONE, Nick :D

What irks me is when I see people in the papers etc not comprehending that fact. ie saying,

"This is a free country. I'm allowed to have my opinion and my views. I don't care if what I say upsets anyone. Oh and f*ck all of the poofters, lefties and Jews"

I'd be more interested if you can get your knee down or not rather than who you go to bed with.... :D

Our attitude is more important than our beliefs because you can believe whatever you like if your attitude is to accept other's beliefs (within reason of course). It's ignorance and hate that is what I believe is really harmful.

    Negativity breeds negativity

I just never really understand why people get so upset by stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with them.

If two people of the same sex want to roger each other stupid, what business is it of mine? They're not forcing (or indeed asking :D) me to join in. Having some bloke sweating and grunting behind me might not be my idea of a good afternoon but vive la difference, I say.

I work in a knuckle-dragging environment and actually had to listen to someone the other day say,

"All poofs should be stuck on an island and bombed" (at least I think the guy said 'bombed' :D)

I can't comprehend why someone would feel such hatred for something that doesn't concern them. Only thing I can think is that they want to emphasise that they don't want to get involved in such shenanigans :D

I personally think...That the easiest way to allow it to become an issue is to do just that, turn it into an issue.

The offending article is created by some psychobabbling, box ticking bureaucrat that desperately needs to justify the existence, within the education system of a psychobabbling, box ticking bureaucrat. The above product will have been a big coup for somebody earning a decent living from the educational system who neither teaches, nor cares for your children.

Bin it, tear it up, burn it if you want, but it would be wrong to to use it as a shitty stick to hit anybody but the creator of it.

Oh and the artist, because, damn!.......That 'tache.....A bit blue Oyster club....Talk about stereotyping.
