Was out on both my '06 baby and Danny's SP today (the one I put the exhaust / filter etc on the other day). Gave them both the beans on a nice dual carridgeway couple of miles from my house.. its downhill from both sides - straight as a die and about 2 miles between the roundabouts (70mph limit) and great for "exercising" the bike ;)

With both bikes shift lights each gear, the SP felt super strong today, and on the speedo's was 15mph faster than my bike at the same point I decided to back off.. very impressive. Re-calibrated me to what "fast" was haha..

Only disappointment (maybe a strong word) was that I thought Danny's Akro system (no baffle) wasn't as loud at full beans as I hoped, or my own bike.. small detail but nice to hear them sing :D

Good man, I was also impressed with the SP, felt great and defo has an edge over a stock rr8+ in more way than one, like you compared to my modded 07 I don't feel it's quite got to the point where I have to flog mine, just need to stay away from those SP's ;)

Saying that I could quite get used to one....lol

ha! Same comment I should have put Arthur.. I really enjoyed the performance, but not to the point that I would rush to throw away my modded bike for one.. (was nice all that power though haha)..

My mate went on them both as well (Danny - did text you haha) for a wee bit and he also prefers the look of the older bike, but also impressed at the devastating performance of the SP..

Would love to try one versus my race blade. Mines a stock engine but around same bhp but would like to try with the newer lightened crank and fresher engine. Also be interesting comparing their ohlins to my ktech and m4s the hpks :)

Good to see the sp going alright in British superstock too

What's this, rent 'a' go ;) I'd like another blast but best not...lol. No doubt the SP is a great bike, I still think it's good value, no frills, pure superbike. I know some say about the lack of TC etc but I like it that way, as for no shifter, well, name one bike that comes with a good one standard...lol. Stick the HM on it and job done.

Make a nice track bike me thinks.....lol

It's ok Danny I'll see how it compares to a 2010 model with Akra.
That should be a decent comparison.

How does Tuesday sound Gilesay :)

May as we'll ask you mate as Danny will never know lol

Be interesting to compare the SP to a new S1000RR and also to my MY11 blade.

What is the alleged power output of the SP compared to a std bike?

I was under the impression that the engine was std, but bike benefited from Ohlins TTX and Brembo M4s.

Engine has matched (hand selected) pistons and rods, revised stacks, revised inlet tracts, revised head, and possibly other tweaks, the media say it's blueprinted and that is also possibly true but it's not ported or polished for sure but defo has an edge over a standard bike in any case, dyno wise I doubt your see much in the way of numbers but when you ride it the motor feels sublime and clean, very crisp over any other blade I have ridden, I have prob rode about 40-50 rr8+ maybe more since 2008 so I know them well, the SP feels so vibration free compared with any other I have ridden, it's clear the engine has been build with care and consideration with select parts.

Compared with a S1000RR I have only rode a 2010 and that feels flat anywhere under flat out IMO tbh they remind me of a supersport in that you need to get it in the upper rev range to get a move on, my customer swears the SP feels stronger than his 2yr owned 2012 S1000RR that made 186 seen in the for sale section and also swears that his S1 would be pushed to beat the 2012 ZX10 of the line unlike the SP that has shown it has an edge with a standing start more than once.

I will have some real numbers to compare next week with the SP and full Arrow, like a 2010 S1000RR made 196 with full Akra etc, 2012 S1000RR made 186 (much stronger mid to ride so I am told by long term owner) the 2010 S1 mapped by AR with AR slip on decat made 210 (yeah I know I laughed too) felt gutless over the SP in my back to back ride, the first two were mapped on dynos I use and the same dyno all the blades I do make 162 even with full systems they only make 171-177 but feels strong as hell.

I've had a couple of demo sessions on the new naked BMW S1000R Sport - the QS on that feels damn smooth whatever the revs - not sure of the make though - IMO of course

The BMW shifter is a shift assist, it's not a Quickshifter as such and is VERY crude! I can tell you most long term owners of the S1 upgrade to HM plus, the S1 shifter shows it's weakness when pushed hard. :)

Custom maps will cost £200inc vat, watch out for cost cutters offing "deals" on dyno time, HM and DynoTech cut no corners and your welcome to veil the session too :)
