Look impressive , on my short list was gunna be pilot power 3 or the Pirelli Diablo super cords sp v2 . Got a while yet till this s20 will be shot . Lots to read about tyres on here
I have S20 and very happy getting 1500 to 2k miles out of the tyre as bike used as a Toy however if I was on it daily would use a touring tyre like the T30. Had Rosso corsa. On my Ducati and never got on with them Bridgestone ready to go from the off.
I'm in S20s and so far so good. I tend to stick with Bridgestones as they have done me well in the past. Don't like michelins after bad experience of them in cars and bike, and the tread pattern is fugly as well . Ok experience with michelins was a few years ago but I still won't touch them. Would probably go Metzler if I stopped using Bridgestones.
Well I think the Bridgestone BT023 are a great tyre and Ron Haslam was using them on his race school bikes up until the Bridgestone T30 tyres came. Sport touring tyres have came a long way in the last few years!!
Just got 1800miles out of my DRC with a track day in there but it sucks having to go easy on the top speeds so it doesn't flatten off quick. DRC is awesome dry and can handle the damp fairly well but as soon as it gets wet it becomes twitchy as hell (or so I hear as I don't ride in those said conditions) I am about to put the PR4 on for a few thousand miles in Spain in July. Cannot wait!
Since the PR3's came out I've fitted them to the 929, the reason for the choice was originally that I ride it all year round and commute on it. Eating tyres in 2k was becoming expensive and tbh unnecessary. When we were planning last year’s tour which would involve circa 3k and after seeing Andy use them on his RRA in Scotland (I had them fitted to the 929 for the trip) I made the choice to go with them on the RRA. Just couldn't be arsed knowing I'd have to change at least a rear whilst away. After loads skepticism I convinced Jimbo to do the same, like many he wasn't convinced they would have enough grip. After having them on and comparing the tyres to sportsmarts and corsa's on the RRA and monster, watching many others slide around on ride outs when the weather wasn't bang on I can say without doubt they are the best all round road tyre for the road. I've also done plenty of track days with the 3's and more recently with the 4's on Jimbo's R1, the 4's IMO are even better. If I was only doing a couple of K a year in dry weather I'd probably go for something else. Does this amaze the tyre dudes when I'm having them fitted to the BST's, yep. Do I care, nope. Does make me chuckle though that there's a view they are for VFR's and alike, I'm not suggesting they are the best track or indeed the best dry weather, 30 degree's sunshine tyre but try them as you may be surprised.
I had pr3s on my CB1000R for 5000 miles in wet, dry cold warm conditions and couldn't fault them coming from metzler k3s on the previous blade and ducati 1098 I can honestly say I've not found them wanting in any area for commute/fast road use, I now have PR4 fitted and there great and look a bit better than the old PR3 I would recommend them to anyone
I remember reading a tyre test not sure if it MCN or Fastbikes but stock S20's were removed and replaced with retail S20's apparently there is a difference between them I can't remember what it was for sure but they are a different spec( maybe cheaper Jap spec?) But I would'nt rule out any manufacturers as Dunlop Q's are utter shite but Sportsmart are utter amazing you would'nt think they were the same manufacturers but that could be the Q's being stock spec again ? Also recently there was a test against a 3yrs old sports tyre and the latest touring tyre round track! Yup you guessed it the tourer blitzed it! I've heard very good things about Metzeler 7rr's they are equal if not slightly better the the new Sportsmart2 All I know it's bloody expensive to try them all out I found good'uns with Dunlop and I'll stick with them for now
The Michelins were 2CT's which loads of people love but I never got on with them. loving the Metzelers. Especially the price
Not a chance Steve. I'd give them 2 hours at the very most and that's rounding it up. I'd go elsewhere!
