Well my insurance is not up till feb but as I was sorting out my house insurance I thought I would Go Compaire 34YO, Married blahh etc... 5 years riding. put the bike worth at 8.5K Added my 2011 blade. 4 k a year fully comp protected. as I have now. With no power increasing Yoshi R&G crash bungs Hugger & Seat cowl So out of the hundreds of insurance company's only 3 would quote. Paying £550 at the mo. was a extra £140 for the protected when I renewed. Best quote so far £950 WTF. Says the others can't quote due to the mods. The only thing I see that makes a difference is the Yoshi. Just for future referance what how much are you lot paying and have you told the insurance all the mods you have Seems they are taking the piss :jaw:
To add removed the R&G, Hugger and Single seat cowl and come up as £125 straight away. Still too much FFS
again removed exhaust, and upped to the excess from 250 to 500 and.................... £316 best price with over 10 under £400 and another 15 under £500. Insurance is a joke Bike devil ? have it at £407 with no excess???????????????????????????????? http://www.bikedevil.net/
I paid £508 fully comp, for my 2011 registered standard bike, only two years NCB so I expected my arse to be spanked but it really was a lot better than the £1192 I was quoted by Bennetts who incidentally charged £167 for my gsxr 750. It really needs jumping on, as said, they are taking the pi$$
Takes the piss . Thats why i went through all the hassle with MCE . It was worth it to get my insurance fully comp for 260 . second cheapest quote was 510 i think . im 28 . 6 years no claims so chuffed with that . Iv told MCE about the Yoshi and they said its fine . no price increase . Havnt mentioned the power commander , Wheels , Rear sets etc Not really sure what to do after reading MCN as with my mods i might not get insured no where
I went with MCE, they were the cheapest by a long way, I hear they are not too keen on paying out, but the bikes been parked since I bought it in October and it will be for at least another 3-4 months.
Just got my renewal with MCE with the following mods: Seat cowl Screen R and G Akrapovic Power Commander Airfilter £429.29 no excess 31 YO low risk postcode 8 years no claims, was more than I was expecting but cheapest I can find elsewhere is over £550 so think it is quite good Not over the moon but not to bad, Unless anyone has any other insurers to try ?
I'm paying around £350 fully comp with Bikesure. About 2 pages of mods on my bike! But I am an old fart!!!
I pay £289 with Kwik fit well insurance express fully comp with all mods declared ! See you on the flip side starring at the stars !
Remal: I posted this responce from MCE insurance in may be worth contacting Emma to see if we can get a group insurance buy??? Dear Carl At MCE we do not have any limits to the number of modifications we can quote for. The fact is we love them, more modifications makes the MCE team merry! Lots of mods usually mean more enthusiastic bikers and as a company if we aren’t catering for the most passionate of bikers, we aren’t fulfilling our purpose. The rating (premium price) will be effected based on whether the modification is performance enhancing or purely cosmetic. And we aren’t talking ridiculous premiums either – they are treated on an individual basis to suit the bespoke requirements of the bike in question. Accordingly I have never heard of a customer who hasn’t been impressed with our mod policies. If there is anything else I can help with – any questions you would like me to further answer or any feedback that comes as a result to respond to please do not hesitate to get in touch with me directly. Kind Regards, Emma Westley | Marketing Manager If we have any comments about MCE I will direct Emma to this forum, so keep it polite??
Interesting and maybe worth giving them a shout about group discount for members if they so want to go with MCE
I paid Carole Nash £550 with huge £750 excess back in the summer but that is because i could not use my no claims after an extended break from bikes Age 49 Divorced with two kids low risk postcode 2011 asb blade R&G tail tidy R&G Cras protection Akro pipe OE hugger OE rear seat cowl The didnt seem that interested in the mods as long as not a performance part. Plan to add soft grips, OE high screen and sticky tyres over the winter so if this insurance / mods issue grows arms and leg i might have to consider someting like a Panigale as it seems good to go as it is. I Would be in a group deal if it saves some hard earned, so interested to see how this one runs.
ive had no quibles with mce. paid out within 6 weeks for the bike and another 6 weeks for helmet, leathers, excess ect. with non fault claims allways use a company like bld group to manage the claim. they pay out so much quicker when they have someone chasing there ass 24/7 and charging them a fortune for storage and a hire bike.
I went with MCE yesterday £410 all Mods declared no excess Very happy with the service, no one else came close to them, next closest was £605, if I had no mods was looking around the £300 mark Also no massive mark up for monthly payments like some others
